This past week the Import took the Domestic's lunch money, beat them up behind the field, then walked off with the Domestic's girl under their arm. There was only one winning record had by the DL...and that was Indy who went 4-2 against Batavia and Philly. The rest of the winning weeks went to Import teams as Seattle, Windy City, and California went 5-1, while Baltimore, Denver, Batavia, Washington, and New York went 4-2. Some team leaders: Maine scored 38 runs (Car/Mon 14), New York smashed 11 HRs (Den 1), Phoenix swiped 13 bases (Was/Har/NY 1), Windy City allowed only 8 runs (Mon 37), and opponents hit only .197 off of Carolina (Mon .306).

Performance of the Week
LF J.J. Evans - On May 14th against Montreal, Evans smacked two home runs, drove in four, and scored three times in a 12-2 victory over the Exports. At only 24 years old the former 12th overall pick of the 2048 draft is now hitting .357 with 5 HRs and 15 RBIs in 35 games. He's a career .330 hitter...yet has never been to an All-Star game. It's time to give this young man a little respect.
Prospect of the Week
P James Sisson - The 208th overall pick of the 2050 draft is now ranked the 33rd overall prospect in the league, thanks in part to a devastating fastball. The 6'4 hurler can hit 101mph on the radar gun, and has four pitches, but that fastball is what sets him apart. This season in six starts he's 4-0 with a 1.31 ERA, 0.73 WHIP, and 405 ERA+. He also has struck out 41 batters while only walking 3. It might be time to see what AA, or even AAA brings.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Remember when we said Rodrick Madhubuti might hit .225 with 45 HRs, well we weren't as close as we thought we'd be. All though the season is young Madhubuti is hitting .280/.437/.720 with 13 HRs and 40 RBIs. He's on pace to hit 55 home runs, and drive in 171 runs, which would break Turell 'Two Ton' Morris record of 168 RBIs he set back in 2030. Another record in danger is Ricky 'Heartthrob' Figueroa's triple record. He hit 22 in 2029, and Elias 'Clapper' Owen has seven already, which puts him on pace for 28. Owen meanwhile holds the stolen base record of 115 set in 2052, which LAD's Kenny West is currently on pace to tie. When you're a quarter of the way through the season the odds are against players keeping their current pace, but it's fun to write about.
2. Congrats to the CCBL's Orleans Firebirds who took home their sixth Cape Cod Cup this past weekend. In a deciding game three of the championship series against the Wareham Gatemen, they scored in the bottom of the ninth when catcher Gaven Patterson singled home Braden Kelley for the winning run. Meanwhile in the NCAA the North Carolina Tarheels took home their second title, and first since 2023, when they swept Oklahoma in the final of the College World Series. Finally in the HS championships the White Hall HS Hounds captured their first ever title when they beat the Carroll Dragons 3-1 in the deciding game. The Hounds have been around since 2026 and were in the playoffs 15 previous times before getting their first cup.
3. All is right again as LAD leads the league with a +13.36 ZR, with Seattle coming in second at +13.22. These two teams finished 1-2 last year as well. The Dinos have the best 2B/SS combo in the league as those two positions combine to be a +10.10 ZR. On the other side of the pillow the poor Muckdogs of Batavia are last with a -24.95 ZR, over 11 points worse than the 23rd ranked Freedom. Centerfield is their biggest issue as their -6.07 ZR at that position is worse than 19 other teams total ZR just by itself. Malcolm Peters is the biggest contributor to that numbers, as he's been out in center for 22 games. The ninth round pick from the 2045 draft is a fan favorite, but not a pitcher favorite.
4. With the 2055 BLB draft coming up lets look at the last decade of drafts in the BLB. Overall Toronto leads the league with an 81.2 WAR from drafted players, followed by LAD (78.9), Washington (75.1) and Wilmington (74.7). Last is poor Philly at 6.1 WAR, followed by Pawtucket (12.0), and Phoenix (13.2). Numbers wise Baltimore and Wilmington lead the league with 15 batters reaching the BLB, while Batavia leads with 15 pitchers. When it comes to late round steals, no one, and we repeat no one is better than Baltimore. In rounds 6-10 the Bulldogs have amassed a 36.1 WAR. Second place is California...at 16.2. Montreal meanwhile has a -1.0 WAR as their late round finds are more coal than diamonds.
5. What's on tap? How about the series we've all been waiting for...Washington at California. Last season the Kodiaks took out the two-time defending champions in the Division Series, and the Bats are ready for a little payback. Previous to that series California was 3-18 against Washington in the playoffs, so it was nice to see the scrappy Kodiaks get a rare series victory. To the present though as both these teams are first in their respective divisions and have the two best records in baseball. California relies on their pitching and defense as they are first in the entire league in runs allowed, and second overall in opponents average. Washington is third overall in runs allowed so they are no slouch on the mound either. Get your popcorn ready because it's going to be a fun four game series.
