We take a week off and come back to Wilmington being 13th in the league...what happened. Ahh...the ugly unicorn of 0-7 reared its head. Well don't fret Wildcat fans, it also happened in Philly. And they've lost 23 in a row, so you got that going for you. On the flip side Denver was the best in all the land by going 6-1. They are now 35-24, good enough for a three game lead in the Ale! Sadly they are in the Bock and in fourth place. Other top weeks were Syracuse and Cali who each went 5-1.

Performance of the Week
1B Dominique Graham - The Millers let him walk this off-season, figuring the 37 year old had seen better days. Off he went into the sunset, and the waiting arms of the Dallas Drillers. So far this season he's hitting .267/.341/.428 with 6 HRs and 31 RBIs, which aren't great numbers for him, but he does shows flashes of his old self. One of those flashes was on June 3rd against Toronto. In a 14-3 beat-down of the Canadians, Graham smashed a home run, drove in six, and scored three times.
Prospect of the Week
P Charles Hofer - After putting up a 2.61 ERA and 150 ERA+ in eight Single A starts, Hofer moved up to AA recently. In his first start he went 5.2 innings, allowed one run, four hits, and struck out eight as he picked up his first AA victory. Drafted 23rd overall in 2051 he's known as a sparkplug around the dugout, while scouts think he's a legit number one down the road. At only 20 years old the Clowns have a little bit to wait, but that pick should pay off in spades.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. We missed last week so we'd like to give a huge congratulations to the new all-time BLB hit king, Pat 'Melody' Nunes. He tied and broke the record against Philly on May 30th. He tied it in the fourth inning when he singled off of Zane Thorpe to send the home crowd into a frenzy. Then in the bottom of the sixth, on the first pitch of his at-bat, he popped the ball into shallow right field for hit number 3,547. He received a standing ovation, the game was briefly stopped, and Nunes was given a ride around the ballpark in the 'Birdmobile'. Fitting for a player that Phoenix drafted second overall in 2026. Congrats Pat!
2. We mentioned up top that Philly has lost 23 in a row, a feat we haven't seen in quite some time. The last win they had was May 13th against Dallas, when they beat the Drillers 3-2. Since then they are 0-23 with a .230 average, 5.57 ERA and a -88 run differential. Unfortunately for the fan base they also have the 23rd ranked minor league system, thanks to a previous GM who loved to wheel and deal prospects and picks away. This is a tortured franchise that has made it to the playoffs 29 times, but never won a championship. Now it looks like another long drought before they get back. We have faith the new management can turn it around, but it will take some time.
3. Who is Pierce Cosme and why is he so good? Many try to say he is 'Jett Spear 2053' but we don't think so. Cosme was signed out of Paraguay in 2045 and was a top forty prospect his entire minor league career. He came up to Seattle in 2052 where he went 4-1 with a 2.14 ERA in 15 games and seven starts. He became a full-time starter last season, and he put up a superb 14-5 record with a 3.01 ERA and 133 ERA+. Now this season he's 7-0 in 10 starts with a 0.88 ERA and 458 ERA+. Okay that ERA+ is pretty out there, and considering his BABIP is .209 and he's only given up one home run when he gave up 21 last year, things will even out. For now though another 14+ win season for the master of the circle change isn't that hard to imagine.
4. It was a big week for Xzavier 'Blockhead' Medellin who was named the Player of the Week after he hit .379 with 4 HRs and 11 RBIs. We forgot to mention that home run number four, against New York on June 4th, was the 500th of his career. There are only seventeen players in the history of the league who have hit 500 home runs, and 'Blockhead' is now one of them. We also forgot to mention that on June 1st against Windy City he drove in two runs, putting him over 1500 RBIs for his career. There are 26 players who have reached that milestone, and 'Blockhead' is now one of them as well.
5. Interleague here we come. The match-up of the week is Dallas at Washington in last seasons Brewmasters Cup rematch! The Dallas bats went cold in that series, and the Washington Bats were able to capture their second straight Brew. It's time for a little revenge as the Drillers have gone 5-2 to open the month while putting up a .312 average. Overall though the Drillers are far from the offensive juggernaut they were last season. In the Domestic they are ninth in average and runs scored, and last in SLG, OBS, and extra base hits. They make up for it though by being first in runs allowed, hits allowed, opponents average, and home runs allowed.
