In the short week we had three sweeps...as Denver, California, and Batavia swept their respective competition in Phoenix, Windy City, and Philly. With the sweep the Kodiaks took over the top spot in the Power Rankings and went into the All-Star break with the second best record in the league. Who has the best record...well those pesky defending champ Bats who went 1-2 against the Bulldogs. We wouldn't get too upset though if we were management in Washington as the sit at 62-32, and they have a 99.9% chance of winning the division.

Performance of the Week
RF Darrius Chavez - The 24 year old was the only player this past week to register a top performance of the season when he lit up Phoenix on July 16th. Over the course of the game he hit two home runs, drove in four RBI, and scored four runs scored in a 13-8 victory. He hails from Paraguay, where Denver scooped him up with a $9m bonus back in 2046. He's now in his third season with the Bulls where he is hitting .340/.407/.590 with 10 HR and 41 RBI. He was also selected to his first All-Star appearance last week as well.
Prospect of the Week
SS Tariq Alston - The shortstop was the 14th overall pick of the 2051 draft by New York and is now the 55th overall prospect in the league. This past week he was selected to the Futures Game where he was named the MVP after tallying up three hits, four RBI, and two runs scored. Unfortunately for him and the Import, Montreal prospect Zechariah Norkus smashed a grand slam home run in the top of the 10th and the IL held on to win 9-6.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. There was a time that the Batavia front office was worried about former first overall pick Jerry 'Snake Hips' Coleman, but those times seem to have past. After hitting .233 in his first full season, then .257 last year, 'Snake Hips' has exploded onto the scene by hitting .318/.363/.603 with 22 HR, 46 RBI, and 29 SB. He also earned his first All-Star nod and is in the running for the Import Stout Slugger award. Now if Zeke Lebron can get back to last years form, where he put up a 6.3 WAR and then signed a $119m extension, well the Muckdogs will start to win a lot more games.
2. Colby 'Mirror' Hullinger leads the league in home runs, is hitting .315, and has even swiped eight bases just for fun...at the ripe old age of 35. He's also on pace for a 7.3 WAR, which would be his highest since he was 29 years old back in 2047 when he put up an 8.3 WAR while playing for New Orleans. Throw in three Stout Sluggers, nine All-Star appearances, seven Designated Drivers, and his first DWI last season at third base, and well the third overall pick of the 2035 draft has had quite the career. Add in his 2045 title with New Orleans, when he was named the MVP of the series, and he might be in the discussion for one of the greatest ever.
3. In the playoff odds brought to us by Stats+, only the New York Cyclones have a 0% chance by their name. We guess they are telling us they don't have a chance, but at least they have the top minor league system. What's that? Wilmington has passed them by. Well being second with 173 'prospect points' isn't a hard life either. On the other end of the spectrum Dallas, Cali, Washington, and Seattle currently sit at 100%, with New Orleans, LAD, Pittsburgh, Pawtucket and Santo Domingo all coming in at 95% or higher. By our math that means 75% of the playoff participants have been "decided". In the Domestic we have a three-way for the final spot between Maine, Indy, and Toronto. While in the Import the two remaining spots are more than likely between Carolina, Denver, and Baltimore.
4. Both Dennis Brantley (NO) and Nathan Baldwin (MAI) are still on pace to break the 2007 record of 66 doubles set by Enrique Ferreira. Meanwhile Kynan Shaw (SEA) is also on pace to break the 2029 record of 22 triples set by Ricky 'Heartthrob' Figueroa. Career wise Pat 'Melody' Nunes has now tied Jamie O'Hearn at 612 home runs, and is just one away from moving into second all-time. Nunes is also just 26 hits away from passing Dani Trujillo and moving into second all-time there as well. He's also projected to finish the season top ten all-time in both runs and doubles. Nunes was the second overall pick of the 2026 draft...who went first overall?
Spoiler
5. What's on tap? This week we will be tuning into Pawtucket at New Orelans. The Patriots are 50-42, in second place in the Ale, but are 2-8 in their last 10. They are first in hits allowed, second in runs allowed, third in OPS, but sadly for them ninth in runs scored. They are also 19-23 away from home, the only team in the league with an overall winning record but losing record on the road. The Voodoo just took two of three from Dallas to roll into the break in high style. They are a top team in the league, but are 2-6 against the Patriots this season. We look for them to turn that around. Streak wise Dez Swanson (IND), and Jett Spear (DAL) have 18 game hitting streaks going, while Jerry Coleman (BAT) and Tyson Dodd (CAR) have homered in three straight games. Team wise the Freedom have lost eight in a row, Windy City has lost five in a row, and California has won four straight.
