We went from Pittsburgh to Dallas to Seattle to New Orleans to Washington...as the Power Rankings just keep on moving. This past week thought it was Toronto who went 6-0 (after trading their ace) with sweeps of Phoenix and Windy City. Other good weeks belonged to Santo Domingo and Indy who each went 5-1. On the flip side the aforementioned Roadrunners and Blues went 0-6, while Carolina and New York went 1-5.

Performance of the Week
JaQuan Wamugunda - Goodness it appears that Wamugunda is en fuego. After torching Phoenix on June 5th with the top pitching performance of the season, he smoked New Orleans on June 11th to have the second best pitching performance of the season. This time he tossed another complete game shutout that featured only one hit, 10 K's, and no walks. Over his last two games JaQuan has pitched 18 innings and allowed no runs, four hits, two walks, while striking out an amazing 27 batters. He's now 8-1 with a 1.48 ERA on the season.
Prospect of the Week
1B Idris Wnuk - We keep waiting to see when the 24 year old gets to make his BLB debut...but it should be soon. Drafted with the 19th overall pick of the 2049 draft he's gone from the 97th ranked prospect to as high as 42nd. He was just selected to the AAA All-Star team and this year he's hitting .286/.355/.479 with 6 HR and 26 RBI in 50 games.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. It was a rough 'welcome home' that Trevon Pearson got in his debut back with Pawtucket. Originally drafted by the Patriots in 2043 he was traded to Toronto in 2045 where he eventually started 159 games for the Canadians. Traded back last week he got to face Batavia, and things started out great with an opening batter ground out. Things then went sideways as Batavia proceeded to go single, walk, double, ground out, walk, walk, double. He was saved after centerfielder Greg Anderson threw out Zeke Lebron at home for the final out, but the damage was done to the tune of four runs off of three hits. He escaped the second inning without any runs, but in the 3rd he walked Mason Chronister and then gave up the 2-run home run to Payton Dutcher. That was it for Pearson. Two innings, five hits, four walks, and six runs allowed.
2. Jannero Peter has been the lone bright spot for the Bulldogs so far this season. The 25 year old former 7th round pick is 10-0 with a 1.21 ERA, 0.77 WHIP, and 331 ERA+. He's the front runner for the Pale Ale and the Triple Crown, as he leads the Import in wins, ERA, and is third in strikeouts. First in K's though is 3x All-Star, 2x champion, and last years Pale Ale winner Dwan Tamarovsky. Considering Tamarovsky has a 104 ERA+ when he's averaged a 152 ERA+ the last three seasons, well he might be hard to catch. He's 8-3 with a 3.83 ERA and 1.29 WHIP and we think he'll get hot sooner or later.
3. The division races are close and exciting...well except the Stout. The Bats have built a 12 game lead and it's the middle of June. They have the best record in the league at 42-23, but more relevant is that not a single other team in the division has a winning record. The best part is that the teams trailing them still have a solid shot at the playoffs. Philly is second at 30-35, while Carolina is right behind them at 29-35. Even Baltimore at 28-37 and 14 games back has a playoff odd chance of 51% according to the number crunchers at StatsPlus.net.
4. We feel like 37 year old Ben Clewley has been around forever, and he kinda has. Drafted 9th overall in 2033 the 6x All-Star has played for Denver, Santo Domingo, Washington, New York, Dallas, Santo Domingo (again) and now Indy. This past week he reached 800 extra base hits, becoming the 95th player in the history of the league to do so. He's a lifetime .276/.357/.492 hitter with 373 HR, 1078 RBI, and 250 stolen bases. Hall of Fame?
5. What's on tap? Well the BLB is back at league play with the top billing going to New Orleans at Pawtucket for a four game series this week. The Patriots have been lights out at home, as their 24-10 record is tops in the league. The Voodoo though are 18-12 on the road, one of four teams to be six games above .500 when out of town. In their first series the Patriots went 3-1, but both teams scored 13 runs over the four games. Streak wise Aubrey 'Gypsy' Albano (SYR) has a 19 game hitting streak, Charlie Guevin (PAW) hasn't blown a save in 29 straight chances, and the Blues have lost eight in a row.
