The Dinos and Kodiaks go 6-1 to go shooting up the Power Rankings, while Syracuse, Washington and Dallas all go 5-2. On the other side of life the poor Muckdogs lost every game this past week, and have now lost 11 in a row. Some team leaders: LAD scored 52 runs (Tor 12), Windy City/LAD hit 12 home runs (Tor 0), Pittsburgh allowed 13 runs (Phi 46), and opponents hit .216 against Washington (Wil .329).

Performance of the Week
1B Ike 'Big Cat' Evans - Picked in the 10th round of the 2045 draft by Washington, he was promptly cut a few weeks later. He was picked up by Phoenix a few weeks after that and has had quite the success story. In 2049 he won the A ball Outstanding Hitter award. In 2051 he made his BLB debut and finished 3rd in the New Brew award voting. Fast forward to last week where against LAD he turned in the 2nd best hitting performance of the season. In four at bats he smashed three home runs and drove in five, but the Roadrunners fell to the Dinos 10-7. Overall this season he's hitting .294/.378/.587 with 9 HR and 24 RBI with a 149 OPS+.
Prospect of the Week
2B Darcey 'Wolf' Hodnett - The 'Wolf' was an IAFA signed by Syracuse in 2050 for a $5.7m bonus out of New Zealand. He's currently ranked #100 in the Top Prospects, but scouts love his potential. His ability to put the bat on the ball, and not strike out, combined with his intelligence and work ethic means he has all the tools to succeed. At only 19 years old he has a long way to go, but he should be a reliable starter for the Snappers someday.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. We're getting worn out from all the 400 career home run celebrations. The latest is Kodiaks slugger Joey Robertson who cranked his 400th round tripper on May 23rd against Batavia. Drafted first overall in 2034 by California he played for them from 2037 until 2050, when he then went unappreciated and unsigned and was castoff into free agency. Since then he played for Santo Domingo, Maine, Indy, and Seattle before signing once again with California this off-season. Over his career he has been a 9x All-Star, and won four DWI's and Designated Drivers. He also helped lead Cali to the 2043 Brewmasters Cup.
2. Speaking of Brewmasters Cups, one of the greatest ever was 2038 when Hartford slugger Ron 'Vampire' Hutchison hit a two out, game seven, walk off home run to beat the Batavia Red Jackets. In what should make us all feel old, only one player is still in the league from that team. Reliever Zeshaun Lewis, who is currently in Toronto's minor league system. That Hartford team went 100-62, had five All-Stars (Josh Allen, Chang-hyun Kym, D.J. Osburn, Darrien Rojas, Yu-Hsiang Xiang), and took down Pittsburgh and New Orleans in the playoffs before the unbelievable seven game series against Batavia. 'Vampire' was later inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2048.
3. It's draft time, which means the so called 'feeder' leagues are wrapping up. In the Cape Cod League, the Hyannis Harbor Hawks took down the Harwich Mariners two games to none. It is their seventh championship in CCBL history and they were led by senior Damon Casebier who led the league in average and RBI. In the NCAA the College World Series is going on as UCLA has a 1-0 lead over Baylor. The Bruins had the second best record in the regular season and have not lost a playoff game yet. They are led by super freshman Allan Jett who hit .385 with 16 HR and 40 RBI this year. Finally at the high school level the Hoover Pirates took down the Northwestern Titans 2-1. Hoover has finished 20-20 the last six seasons, but was still able to take home the teams 11th title.
4. Pawtucket has been filling the seats this year, as their 95.3% attendance leads the league. Coming in last are the Tobs, who fill 30.4% of their seats for home games. The good news for Carolina is that they are 22-23 and the turnaround has begun. With rookie Evan Turner hitting .297 with 15 HR the fans are starting to come back. Maybe it's time to throw in a some discounts, a free Tobs Dog, or have Turner NFT night again.
5. What's on tap? This week we get the battle of the number ones...as Pittsburgh travels to Dallas, and Washington travels to California. All four of those teams currently lead their respective division, and it will be the teams first series of the season against each other. Streak wise the Muckdogs have lost 11 straight, Cali and LAD have won six straight, Marco Husted (LAD) and Blake Kahn (MON) have 12 game hitting streaks, and Braden Jordan (NO) has won 10 consecutive games.
