The Domestic continues their hot streak as the unicorn of the week belongs to Pittsburgh. The Millers went 7-0 with sweeps of Maine and Wilmington, move atop the Ale, and sport the best record in the league. Right behind them in the PR though are DL friends Pawtucket (4-3), Dallas (5-2) and New Orleans (5-1). Other good weeks belonged to LAD (5-1), and Toronto, Seattle, and California who all went 5-2. On the other side of life Wilmington, Montreal, and New York all went 1-6 while Carolina went 1-5.

Performance of the Week
1B Parker Lee - For those not familiar with Parker Lee he was a second round pick by the Bats back in 2048 out of high school. The now 22 year old is now one of the scariest sluggers in the league as last season he hit .269 with 44 home runs. He has only got better and this past week against Seattle he went 4-4 with one home runs, five RBI, and two runs scored in a 10-8 victory. On the year he is hitting .297 and is projected to smash 51 HR and drive in 132 RBI.
Prospect of the Week
LF Houston Yap - The 20 year old is lighting things up for the Beavers as the 3x All-Star helped lead them to the NCAA title last season. This year he hit .343 with 15 HR and 35 RBI as Oregon State has advanced to the Regionals. His four year slash line at OSU is .344/.444/.669 with 57 HR and 166 RBI. The guy is simply a hitting machine.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Hats off to Reid 'Ramrod' Cole who smashed his 400th career home run on May 7th against LAD. Unfortunately for him it was the only run the Kodiaks scored that day as the Dinos took them down 4-1. Regardless we won't let it put a damper on his fine career. He was the 9th overall pick in the 2037 draft by Windy City, has turned into a 5x All-Star, and has been named a playoff series MVP an amazing seven times. He also won the 2041 New Brew, the same year he helped lead the Blues to the title.
2. Have the Clowns given Elias 'Clapper' Owen the stop sign? In Owen's first full season he stole 96 bases, a BLB record. In Owen's second season he stole 115 bases, a BLB record. In his now third season he's swiped 12 bases in 30 games, and is on pace to have 'just' 61 steals by the end of the year. He's hitting .323/.373/.379 so he's getting on base, but he just isn't tearing up the basepaths like his first few years. Maybe now that he's 23 he's slowing down a bit. It happens to the best of us.
3. Speaking of stealing bases, what is going on with the poor Whalers. They are the only team in the league to have been thrown out more than they have been successful. This year they are 14 of 34, for a 41% success rate. It's translated to a whopping -5.03 wSB, which is almost twice as worse as the 23rd ranked team. Their main issue is center fielder Tyson Velez. Hartford paid him big money this off-season, and he's hitting .323, but he's been thrown out 14 times in 19 attempts. He's quick, but many say his base-running instincts are just bad. Lifetime he's stolen 179 bases, but he's also been thrown out 129 times.
4. Who's in first on the basepaths...well none other than the Washington Bats who have racked up a +4.52 wSB. They have stolen 44 bases in 55 attempts for an 80% success rate. They have also walked 102 times (5th overall), been hit by 10 pitches, and intentionally walked seven times. LAD is second at +3.76, while Seattle (+2.71), Denver (+2.39) and California (+2.10) round out the top five.
5. What's on tap...how about some sweet, sweet interleague action. Our much watch series is Pawtucket at Washington, as the last two Brewmaster Cup champions duke it out. Last season Maine knocked the Patriots out in the DLCS otherwise this would be a Brew rematch. Alas it wasn't meant to be. Over the last 10 seasons these two have faced off 30 times, with Pawtucket leading the series 16-14. This year they have the second and third best record in the league and once again are the favorites to represent their respective league in the Brewmasters.
