The Brewski's
The Daily Keg is excited to announce the lucky 13th Brewski's award show. The selection committee has 'poured' over the season stats and excitedly announces the winners for the following awards, some serious...some not so serious. So without further delay here we go.
Player of the Year
RF Elias 'Clapper' Owen, WIL - 'Clapper' is the first person to go back to back since Johnny Swope did it three times in a row back in the roaring 30's. Last year it was because Owen set the single season stolen base record. This time is because he shattered that record and is the first person in the history of the league to get 100 stolen bases in one season. On the year Owen hit .331/.379/.437 with 56 RBI, 102 runs scored, and an astounding 115 stolen bases. Eat your heart out 'Powder'.

Hitter of the Year
RF Zeke Lebron, BAT - He has the speed and ability on the bases of Owen, but is also the top power hitter in the BLB. This season he hit .283/.332/.614 with 47 HR (league leading), 116 RBI, and 78 stolen bases. He joins the all-exclusive 40/40 club and was almost the first member of the 50/50 club. We've never seen anything quite like him.

Pitcher of the Year
P Dwan Tamarovsky, LAD - Another back to back winner as Tamarovsky once again takes home the Brewski. At 26 years old he is the premier pitcher in the league and showed it once again. This season he was 17-11 with a 2.72 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 147 ERA+ and 6.2 WAR. He's already led LAD to two titles and almost single handily drug them to another postseason appearance this season.

Rookie of the Year
1B Cory 'Boy Scout' Petit, NO - He could have won Player of the Year, or Hitter of the Year, but the 25 year old will have to settle for Rookie of the Year. In the most dominant display of youth in history, Petit hit an unheard of .394 with 20 HR, 105 RBI and a 7.5 WAR. His .394 average is tied for third best in history (with Adam Nickell) as he played in 156 games and led all rookies is almost every offensive category.

All-State Hands Award
(Given to the player with the most total chances and no errors...who doesn't play primarily first base)
CF Jaret Foley, DAL - It looks like the Drillers might have found a centerfielder for the next decade or so in Foley. The 22 year old hit .266 with 7 HR, 45 RBI and 52 SB, while posting a +12.4 ZR (second best in the league) in center over 125 games. He also had 371 total chances in the field, and never made a single error. Dallas drafted him in the second round of the 2048 draft out of high school and he could be a steal.

Army Ranger Sniper Award
(Given to the catcher with the highest runner thrown out percentage with a minimum of 50 attempts)
C Doug Day, PIT - Picked up late in free agency, Day ended up taking over the starting catchers role half-way through the season. He hit .270 with 17 HR and 58 RBI, but his ability behind the plate is what got him the job. Not only was he great for the pitching staff, but he was deadly against opposing runners. One hundred runners attempted to swipe a base on him, and 38 never made it. For those non-math majors his RTO of 38% led the league.

2031 winner: Ian 'Pickles' James, SDR

CF Rice Mesyan, SEA - In 72 attempts he was successful 68 times, for a success rate of 94.4%. The 28 year old was discovered by Denver in 2041, started three seasons for them, and then traded to Seattle in 2049. He's started the majority of the games since for the Pilots where he has stolen 197 bases while being caught only 27 times.

Ludacris Award
(Given to the player who got hit with the most pitches)
SS LaTrivis Chojnacki, PHI - Jaxson Neal decided to get out of the way a little more this year, and ended up tying for second by getting beaned 16 times this season. Choinacki saw his opportunity and took full advantage of it by throwing himself in the way of 26 opposing pitches. When you have seven children and two ex-wife's, and draw a walk only 29 times on the year...well you have to do whatever you can to keep getting on base.

2051 winner: 1B Jaxson Neal, CAL
Broadside of the Barn Award
(Given to the player with the highest strikeouts per plate appearance)
2B Johnnie Lease, CAR - We've been lucky in the past for winners of this category to reach 40%, well Lease blew them out of the water with a SO% of 51.7. He's literally boom or bust at the plate as he recorded 51 hits on the season, and 17 of them went out of the park. His 200 K's were fourth highest in the league, and he only played in 112 games. The record for strikeouts in a season is 252, so we feel those 35 games he played in AAA this year were a waste of a chance at history.

Swing For Between the Infielders Award
(Given to the player with the most hits but no home runs)
2B Josiah Foust, CAL - A third back to back winner, as Foust hit .289/.329/.384 on the season with 42 RBI, 19 SB, and once again zero home runs. The guy was traded to California in 2050, has played in 386 games for the Kodiaks, and has never hit a home run. Sounds like their GM isn't the only one going through a 'dry spell'. Lifetime for Wilmington and California, he has 4,128 at bats and seven total home runs.

Dickey's BBQ Beans Award
(Given to the pitcher who hits the most batters)
P Cameron Haggard, PHI - Throws hard...check. Has a wicked fastball...check. Well respected by his teammates and despises opposing batters...check. Haggard has everything you need to lead the league in hit batsmen. Spending time as both a starter and reliever, Haggard only pitched 97 innings on the season yet managed to bean 18 batters. Second place was Godrell Gonzalez who pitched 177 innings and only hit 17 batters. It was probably better for the overall health of the league that he only got to start 14 games.

2049 winner: Greg Bryan, WAS
2051 winner: Joe Hudkins, NYC
The Milton Swingline Stapler Award
(The player who earned a check without deserving one)
LF Louie Dano Dasmarinas, CAR - We still have no idea why Carolina claimed LDD from Maine in 2049, but they are stuck with him now. Last season he made $23,000,000 and hit .111 while playing in only five games for the Tobs. This season he played in 40 games, hit .240 with 2 HR and 7 RBI...and once again made $23,000,000. He will make another $23,000,000 next year, before having a player option for $23,000,000 in 2054. For the love of everything merciful we hope that his career earnings of $340m by then will allow him to decline it and retire.
