HAL has the Freedom humming along as they go 3-0 with a sweep of Carolina. They are now only a half game behind Washington for the Stout lead and their 56-37 record is third best in the BLB. Owner C.J. Barnhart is somewhere smiling. Other nice weeks were Baltimore and California who swept Batavia and Phoenix respectively. With everyone playing a short week here are some team leaders: Philly scored 23 runs (Pho 2), Toronto swiped 11 bases (4 teams with 0), Washington and Syracuse hit .317 (Pho .072), California allowed 2 runs (Car 23), and Denver K'd 38 batters (SDR 12).

Performance of the Week
1B Jarryd 'Sparrow' Giles - On July 15th against Carolina 'Sparrow' recorded an amazing eight RBI to go along with his three hits and two home runs in an 11-7 Philly victory. On the season the 31 year old is hitting .262/.322/.595 with 17 HR in 55 games.
Prospect of the Week
2B Joseph Flynn - In the apparent all-Philly edition of the DK, Flynn was picked 10th overall in the 2050 draft and is currently the 56th overall prospect in the land. The 19 year old came out of Puyallup HS where he was a 2x All-Star and hit 57 home runs. He's currently in the Rookie League where he is hitting .331/.468/.520 with 9 HR and 52 RBI. The Freedom are just everywhere these days.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Congrats to Karson 'Super' Blair who has been nothing less than super during his stellar career. This past week he smashed his 300th career home run on July 17th against Pittsburgh. Drafted 7th overall in the 2037 draft he has turned into one of the better third basemen in league history. Since he debuted in 2040 for the Canadians he's been selected to nine All-Star games, won seven DWI's and two Designated Drivers at third, and won championships in 2044 and 2046 with Montreal and Washington.
2. The 2052 Home Run Derby came down to two Bats as Parker Lee and Julian Irwin did battle in the final round. In the end it was Irwin who squeaked out the victory with a 22-21 advantage. Lee though did hit 62 total out of the park during the three rounds to Irwin's 53, so that should give him some ammo to fire back with in the locker room.
3. At the break the Pawtucket Patriots are the lone team with playoff odds of 100% as they look to extend their streak to eight straight Ale titles and playoff appearances. There are a few other teams that are just about locks though as Washington is at 99.8%, California is at 97.6%, Philly is at 96.6%, and Seattle is at 94.1%. On the other side only the Tobs and Roadrunners are at 0%. Wilmington actually has one less win than Phoenix but they come in at 0.2%. So if you are a Wildcats fan we are telling you there is a chance!
4. It was a busy month for closer Twymond 'Old Blue' Atif. On July 1st he was traded from LAD, the team who drafted him and where he won two titles, to Seattle. On July 17th he was named to his second All-Star team. Then later on that same day he signed a 4 year/$33m extension with the Pilots. The 32 year old was a first round pick back in 2040 and over his career has racked up 315 saves with a 2.61 ERA and 147 ERA+.
5. What's on tap? We're back at it as the second half the season gets underway. This week we get a 2-1 match-up as Philly travels to California for four games. So far this season the Kodiaks have a 5-2 series advantage and this is the final meeting...at least in the regular season. Both these teams are in a dogfight for the division title though and the coveted first round bye, so it should be a good one. Steak wise Carl Brinkley (WIL) has a hit in 14 straight games, Henry Keane (WC) has homered in four straight, and Ray Seevers (SYR) has scored in seven straight.
