The Canadians are turning it up...again! This past week they went 5-1, including a 3-game sweep of the Cyclones. They are now 45-46 and only 4.5 games back from New Orleans. Other nice weeks were Baltimore and Seattle who also went 5-1. The Bulldogs are now 48-45, and in fifth place in the Stellar Stout! Meanwhile the Pilots are 50-39 and lead California by a game in the Bock. On the other side of the rainbow Carolina, Denver, Montreal, and Maine all went 1-5.

Performance of the Week
P Kelani Encinia - The only player to make the Top Performances of the year this week, his third appearance on the list. This time it was against Maine on July 12th when he tossed a four hit shutout with 8 K's and no walks. On the season he's now 10-2 with a 2.54 ERA and 158 ERA+, his highest ERA+ since 2044 when he was 17-6 and finished second in the Pale Ale.
Prospect of the Week
P Antonio Sutton - Wilmington found a gem in the 4th round of the 2047 draft when they scooped up Sutton with the 74th overall pick. He's now the 33rd overall prospect in the league and playing for their AAA team. He can throw 101mph, has four pitches, and scouts think he can be a future #1 starter. Considering Wilmington has three other pitchers in the Top 100, including #1 Rick Robertson, the Wildcats are going to have a formidable rotation in the near future.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Denver and Maine are in a free fall together. Since June 1st the Bulls are 13-28 and the Guides are 16-24. Denver is now 42-49, and in 4th place in the Bock, while Maine is 47-43 and 3rd in the Ale. Their main problem is offense as over that time Denver has scored just 133 runs, 23rd in the league, and Maine has scored 147 runs, 21st in the league. Both teams have also hit 24 total home runs, and are tied for last in the league in that category as well.
2. Zeke Lebron of Batavia has picked it back up as he is on pace for 48 HR and 82 SB. Can the 50/50 club dream of the Daily Keg actually come to fruition? It took a long time for the BLB to see a 40/40 member, but even the DK never though we'd see a 50/50 player. Go Zeke Go!
3. The 2052 All-Star game is this week and we have a few potential first timers going. Over in the Import we have C Brian Wilson (Den), 2B Seth Floyd (Den), LF Marco Husted (LAD), RF Dwight Bell (Cal), and Roman Toguchi (PHI). In the Domestic there is 1B Dez Swanson (Ind) and CL Parker Kersey (WIL). The game is set for 7 PM at Pawtucket Park on July 19th.
4. Good thing we're only at the All-Star break because the Domestic wildcard might break the Tandy PC that settles tiebreakers. Currently Syracuse is the final wildcard, but Toronto, Santo Domingo, and Dallas all trail by just one game, and Indy trails by just two games. We can't even imagine the disaster the postseason might become.
5. What's on tap? This week all the teams only play one three game series before the All-Star game on Friday. One series we'll be watching is New York at Washington. The Bats have a 2-1 series lead so far this season and lead the Cyclones by six games in the Stout. New York is 49-42 and has a 83.7% playoff chance, but a winning series against the Bats headed into the All-Star break would be a huge boost. Streak wise James 'Turf' Goebel (WAS) has a 20 game hitting streak, Beaumont Sanchez (BAL) has scored in eight straight games, and Abel 'Stumpy' Valley (TOR) has knocked in a run in six straight games.
