The Canadians are turning it up! The 2052 Daily Keg pick to win the Brew went 6-1 this past week and shot all the way up to 3rd place in the Lager. They are now 40-45 and have a 20.1% chance of making the playoffs. Other big weeks were had by the usual suspects who all went 5-2...Washington, New Orleans, Baltimore, California, and Windy City. Well most of those are the usual suspects. On the other side of the pillow Phoenix went 1-6 while Denver, Batavia, Maine, and New York went 2-5.

Performance of the Week
1B Andy 'Wasp' Whitbeck - The round five pick from the 2046 draft doesn't quite fit in with the long line of phenomenal Bulldog first basemen (Rice, Gosser, Damours, Chiba, Kellum, Castor), but he had a big day on July 5th against Phoenix. In four at bats he racked up three hits, two home runs, drove in five, and scored four times 15-6 beat down of the Road Runners. On the season he's now hitting .293/.360/.528 with 8 HR and 21 RBI.
Prospect of the Week
P Rick 'Barracuda' Robertson - A few months ago he was the 56th overall prospect in the league...a few days ago he was named the #1 overall prospect in the league. He was a 4th round pick by the former administration in Wilmington (Indy) and he's bloomed into everything they thought he would. He now throws 101 mph, has three dominant pitches, and has the stamina to start and finish games. At 19 years old he has the makings of a future ace.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Looking back at the Performance of the Week, 'Wasp' is actually the DH for the Bulldogs. You know who is carrying the torch though in the long line of phenoms playing first base...Garry Castonguay. The 27 year old was a 4th round pick in 2042 and is in his third season playing full-time for Baltimore. This year he's hitting .300/.365/.544 and is on pace for 22 HR and 50 RBI. This past week alone he smacked 4 HR, drove in 11, and was named the Import Player of the Week. He's also scored in seven straight games and homered in three straight.
2. Who leads the Domestic in average, RBI, OBP, OBS, hits, runs, total bases, OPS+ and weighted OBA? None other than New Orleans rookie Cory 'Boy Scout' Petit from France. Can you win the New Brew and the Stout Slugger, we just might find out. The 25 year old was signed out of France in 2044 for $6.5 million and it might be the best money the Voodoo ever spent. On the season he's hitting .375/.418/.574 with 13 HR and 60 RBI.
3. Philly is filling the seats this year as their 99.4 attendance percentage is one of the highest we've seen in years. On the flip side is Carolina, who comes in at 23.5% full with the next lowest being Windy City at 51.3%. For the Tobs to not even bring in half of the 23rd ranked team...well it's time for the marketing department to get things in gear. Carolina is also lowest when it comes to cash reserve. They came in dead last at -$58,775,733. Well at least they still have the top rank farm system right? Actually no, with the latest update the Wilmington Wildcats (thanks to Barracuda) have moved into first. Don't fret though Tobs fans, they have dropped to second due to several top prospects now playing in the majors. The present is dark, but the future is still bright.
4. In the "We Like Playing These Guys" section here are some lopsided season series: Windy City is 8-0 vs Carolina, Dallas is 8-1 vs New Orleans, Toronto is 7-2 vs Wilmington, Pawtucket is 6-1 vs Montreal, New York is 6-1 vs LAD, Maine is 6-2 vs Montreal, Baltimore is 6-2 vs California, Pittsburgh is 6-2 vs Toronto, California is 6-2 vs New York, and Syracuse is 6-2 vs New Orleans.
5. We are back to interleague and a great match-up to start out the week as first place New Orleans travels to play first place Washington. The Voodoo are 47-39 and rely on their stellar offense which is 2nd in the DL in average, OBP, and runs scored. The Bats are 52-33 and are 2nd in the IL in average, OBP, and runs scored. The difference is the Voodoo are one of the better teams for pitching, but Washington is one of the top teams on the mound. They are second in ERA, third in runs allowed, and first in opponents average. Streak wise a pair of Canadians have hitting streaks going as Bryant Keough (17 games) and Dane Jennings (15 games) look to keep it going.
