The Cyclones went 6-1 two weeks ago, and now 5-1 this past week, as they move all the way up to second place in the Power Rankings. Some other 5-1 weeks were had by Dallas and Pawtucket. The Drillers are now 37-39 and only 3.5 games out of first in the Lager, while Pawtucket is 50-28 and has built a 5.5 game lead over Maine in the Ale. On the flip side Maine went 1-6, while Wilmington and Denver went 1-5. Mama always said there would be days (weeks) like this.

Performance of the Week
P Kelani Encinia - Making his second appearance on the top game performances list, but this time it's first place. On June 27th against Carolina he shut down the Tobs with a complete game shut-out that featured one hit, one walk, and 11 K's. On the season the ageless 36 year old is now 9-2 with a 2.60 ERA and 154 ERA+. He's also just two wins away from reaching 200 career wins, which would place him tied for 35th all-time.
Prospect of the Week
P Noel Fetter - The 9th overall pick out of Oregon has gone from a Duck to a Mallard as he now plays for Hartford's RL team. So far in two appearances he's thrown 3.2 innings, allowed three hits, no runs, walked none and stuck out seven. After pitching 54 innings for the Ducks this season it appears the Whalers are making the smart move and keeping him in the bullpen the rest of the year. Coaches love his work ethic, he can hit 97 mph on the gun, and he throws four pitches. Scouts believe he has the stuff and talent to be a true #1.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Who dominated the month of June, well none other than the Cylcones who went 21-7. They went from two games under .500 to now 45-33, and their playoff odds went from 40% to over 95%. Not a bad month indeed. Other top months were Pawtucket who went 19-9, and Hartford who went 17-10. Poor Carolina fans continue to suffer as they went 8-19, while LAD went a surprising 9-18. The Dinos are in last place in the Bock as they currently sit 13 games under .500 and 9.5 games out of first. Some team leaders: Pittsburgh scored 153 runs (MON 91), Baltimore hit 39 home runs (MON 16), LAD swiped 57 bases (HAR 8), Pawtucket allowed 80 runs (WIL 149), opponents hit .224 against Cali and Pawtucket (DAL .290).
2. California appears to have found a gem when they drafted Collin Jackson in the 8th round of the 2047 draft. He was never once listed on the Top 100 prospects list, but Jackson was called up this season to the majors, and just won the Import Rookie of the Month. In June, Jackson chalked up a 2.37 ERA in 30.1 innings with 32 strikeouts and 3 walks. On the season he's now 2-2 with a 2.02 ERA, 0.75 WHIP, 196 ERA+, and an amazing 43 K's to only four walks. Not bad for pick number 191.
3. As we start off July two single season records are still in the hot zone for being broken. The first is the steals record of 96 set by Elias 'Clapper' Owen just last season. Once again Owen is just blazing away on the base paths as he's still on pace to swipe an amazing 108 stolen bases. The second is the triples record held by Ricky 'Heartthrob' Figueroa who racked up 22 in 2029. There were two players who were on pace to hit 23 triples, but due to Bats shortstop Julian 'Skeeter' Ludin getting injured, we are just down to New York center fielder Walter Worsham who currently has 11 triples. The 22 year old is in his first full season in the BLB where he is hitting .309/.354/.496 with 1 HR, 24 RBI, and 22 SB. He's still learning to play the outfield but his speed and ability to swipe bases is top flight.
4. The Patriots lead the league with a RD of +81, while the Bats are second at +80. On the other end of the spectrum is Carolina at -169 and Wilmington at -118. Some other interesting tidbits (at least to us). Maine is 44-33 with a RD of +5, Santo Domingo is 38-40 with a RD of +26, LAD is 33-46 with a RD of -10, and Baltimore is 38-42 and is dead even at 0. PYT wise Pittsburgh and LAD are -5, Santo Domingo is -4, while Maine is +5 and Philly is +4.
5. What's on tap? This week we get a 1v1 match-up as Washington travels to Seattle. In the first meeting the Bats swept the Pilots and outscored them 17-5. Another good series is New York at Philadelphia. The Cyclones are in third place in the Stout but just trail the Freedom by half a game, and Washington by two games. Streak wise California catcher Tyson Buoni has a 17 game hitting streak, pitcher Jeremy Thrasher hasn't lost in 11 straight starts, and New York's Kyle 'Salesman' Olmsted has scored in seven straight games.
