We are back as Brewers League Baseball kicks off season number 74 in it's great and storied history. Last season we saw the Pawtucket Patriots capture their first crown since 2016, when they had a run of four titles in seven years. Since then though it's been a long drought of frustration and missed chances. No more though as they brought the franchises fifth title home. Enough with the past though as it's back to the present. This past week we saw four teams start out hot as New Orleans, Batavia, Philly and Pittsburgh all went 5-2. We also saw two teams start out not so hot as Wilmington and California went 1-6. With over 150 games left to play lets not quite panic yet.

Performance of the Week
LF Kade Priddy - The longtime Miller had himself a game against Syracuse on April 9th when he smacked two home runs, drove in six and scored three times in a 14-6 victory. Drafted 1.7 in 2039 he's been a staple of Pittsburgh's success throughout the years. Since 2042 he's been a 5x All-Star, 4x Designated Driver, and helped the Millers win two titles.
Prospect of the Week
RF Justin Knight - The Long Beach senior has been an absolute force during his college career and projects to be a top pick in the upcoming draft. So far this season in 33 games he's hitting .381/.468/.709 with 11 HR and 37 RBI.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. It didn't take long to get our first brawl of the season as Washington and Batavia got into it on April 10th. In the 3rd inning Bats starter Reid Rothstein gave up a double to Jerry Coleman. Gage Hay then came up and smacked a two run home run and apparently said something to Rothstein as he rounded second. The next batter, Mason Chronister, hit a home run on the first pitch and once again words were exchanged. Up then came Payton Dutcher who was beaned and the benches cleared. Both Rothstein and Dutcher were ejected. Jordy Nunez then came in to pitch and he gave up a two run home run to Zeke Lebron. In the end Batavia scored five runs that inning off of three home runs and won the game 9-8.
2. Philly is 5-2 and leading the power rankings thanks in part to 43 year Pat 'Melody' Nunes. So far in the first seven games of the season he's hitting .385/.467/.808 with 2 HR and 7 RBI. Playing for his fourth team in as many seasons he's become the master of the one-year deal. If the 8x All-Star becomes a 9x All-Star this season it will be his first IL All-Star appearance since 2041 when he played for the Washington Bats.
3. Goodness Kenny West. The speedster in Los Angeles stole 11 bases this week, putting him on pace for 255 for the season. Last season he stole 43, and 53 the year before. Drafted with the 8th overall pick of the 2046 draft he is in his fourth full season with the Dinos where he has already been a 2x All-Star and won two Brewmaster Cups. He's one of the biggest fan favorites in the league and his work ethic is second to none. At only 26 years old it looks like LAD should be able to build around him for the next 6-8 years.
4. Toronto's Abel 'Stumpy' Valley currently has a 21 game hitting streak going that dates back to last season. In 2051 he had a streak that reached 28 games, in 2050 he had two streaks...one that went 20 games and another that went to 28 games. Four hitting streaks of 20 or more games in the past three seasons, not too shabby. The 29 year old was the ninth overall pick of the 2043 draft by Toronto and is the undisputed captain of the team. He went to his first All-Star game last season and is a lifetime .321 hitter.
5. What's on tap? This week we're onto interleague as we get two 1v1 match-ups. The first is Philly at Pittburgh in the Keystone State rivalry, and the second is New Orleans at Seattle. In the past two seasons the Millers have gone 5-1 against the Freedom, while the Pilots and Voodoo have split their two series 3-3. Streak wise only 'Stumpy' is on the radar as mentioned above.
