The Bats win the week as they went 5-1 with a three game sweep of the Cyclones. Washington is now 96-56 and has captured the Stout crown. After winning 106 games last season and finishing second, it's good to be on top again. Other good weeks were Pawtucket and California who each went 5-2. Both teams have sizable leads in their respective divisions and have all but wrapped up a first round bye.

Performance of the Week
1B Will Harper - The 28 year old is happy to be back in Pawtucket where he played all his career minus the one season he was traded to Toronto. He was traded back the following season, signed a 6 year/$88m extension, and the rest is history. This past week against New Orleans he smacked 3 HR and drove in six during a 9-7 Patriots victory. On the season he's hitting .266 with 30 HR, 99 RBI, and an OPS+ of 130.
Prospect of the Week
P Jamel 'Cheese' Thomas - The 1.1 of the 2049 draft was moved to AA earlier this season and has gotten his first chance to start again since high school. At only 19 the Whalers had him get comfortable as a reliever in the RL and A ball, but he's now started six straight games for the Seals. During that time he's 1-0 with a 3.94 ERA while striking out 18 and walking eight. He's close to hitting triple digits on the gun, he throws a wicked fastball, and both scouts and coaches alike think he will be a star.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. In the Domestic we have a dog fight between Santo Domingo and Maine for the final wildcard spot. Both teams are currently 71-81, with the Rum Runners having a slight advantage due to an easier schedule. SDR does have a PYT of +5 though, third behind only Denver (+8), and Indy (+6). Will their luck hold up? In the Import it's all but done as Washington and California will take the division titles, while Seattle, LAD, Denver, and Baltimore will be the wildcards. The defending champion Red Jackets...Sharks...Muckdogs...are seven back and it's all but over.
2. With the end of the BLB regular season fast approaching that means the end of the minor league playoffs are also near. All four leagues are in the final four, with only the Rookie League Omaha Blackbirds (WAS) advancing to the championship series so far. Stay tuned to see what teams advance to play for the championship as the future stars of the BLB compete for a title.
3. Elias 'Clapper' Owen better continue to get the bat on the ball, and then on his horse, if he's going to break the single season stolen base record. He's currently at 89 and on pace for 94. The record is 93, set by Chadd Chua in 2049. Second all-time was 92 set by Richie 'Powder' van Luik in 2039. Owen is currently hitting .294 overall, and .304 in September, after having a rough August where he hit a season low .242. The Clown are currently 36.5 games back but play their final series is at home against Syracuse. Look for their faithful fans to pack the bleachers in hopes of seeing 'Clapper' make history.
4. Millers starter Theodore Blume was 2-4 with a 4.87 ERA in the middle of May. Since then he's gone 18-1 and lowered his ERA to 2.85. He was the 2051 DL Pale Ale and is favored to go back to back. The last guy to do that was Christian Vines who went back to back to back to back. Vines won every season from 2043 to 2046 where he went 66-21 with a 1.90 ERA and 0.91 WHIP, while putting up a 39.4 WAR. In the where are they now section Vines is still only 33 years old and pitching for the Muckdogs. This season he's 2-2 with a 3.86 ERA and 1.99 WHIP.
5. What's on tap? What a power week to almost close out the year. In the beginning of the week we get Seattle at California, and Pittsburgh at Pawtucket. To close out the week we get Pawtucket at Toronto, and California at Washington. Both those final series are four games, and we can't ever recall when all four division leaders met this late in the season. Also how about the Kodiaks having a 6-1 lead over the Bats so far this year. It appears that the curse of the 2040's that befell California has been swept away. Can it continue this week then onto the postseason?
