It's been a minute since the DK came out...well actually almost a month...but we are back. This past week we saw four teams go an outstanding 6-1 on the week. Step up for your award Toronto, Montreal, Pittsburgh, and Batavia. Three of those four will be playoff bound, while the Exports seem to want to play themselves out a top five pick. On the flip side where there is glory there is pain, as Syracuse and Wilmington went 0-7 and Carolina and New York went 1-6. The Cyclones now find themselves 4.5 games back in the Import wildcard race while the rest of those teams have already been eliminated.

Performance of the Week
3B Latif Won - The Bats first round pick from 2044 made his way to Hartford via trade in 2046 and has turned into a solid starting third basemen for the Whalers. Known mostly for his rocket arm, this past week on September 6th against Syracuse he turned in the 10th best hitting performance of the season. In four at bats he had four hits, five RBI and scored three times in a 13-0 Hartford victory. On the season he's hitting .278/.329/.427 with 9 HR, 76 RBI and a 2.8 WAR.
Prospect of the Week
1B Sage Emerson - What a season for the first overall pick from 2048 as he dominated AA ball. Over 120 games he hit .323 with 39 HR and 102 RBI while playing ever game at first base. The 22 year old is now in the AA playoffs where in four games he's hitting .412 with 2 HR and 4 RBI. He was named POTW four times, POTM twice, and was selected to the All-Star Futures games. A star has been born.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. We should check in on the playoff races as we missed some shuffling the past few weeks. Well it looks like they are all over. In the Domestic all that seems to be decided is the order of the wildcard teams. Hartford and New Orleans are playing for the 1-2 spot, while Dallas and Pittsburgh are playing for the 3-4 spot. In the Import the Cyclones now see their playoff odds at 10% after their disastrous week. The division races though are a lot more exciting as Batavia holds a half game lead on Washington, and California holds a 1.5 game lead on Seattle. The odds makers have the Red Jackets and Pilots winning those races but only time will tell.
2. We missed the hallowed day when Robert 'Stretch' Jessee broke the all-time home run record, against non other than his former team the Toronto Canadians. Jessee now sits at 616 career home runs, while also tied for the league lead with 38 this season. At 36 years old could he reach 700? Meanwhile poor J.D. 'Hurricane' Rice has just five home runs on the season and has been stuck on 609 since June. For some reason the last place Tobs took him out of the lineup completely as he's only had seven at-bats since August 1st. At 38 years old will he retire, or end up making a push next season to finish his career second all-time.
3. There is Dane Jennings and then there is everyone else this season. The 27 year old is an all-star fielding shortstop and an all-star hitting shortstop. On the season the guy is hitting .379/.407/.521 with a 151 OPS+, while also posting a +24 zone rating at short stop. His 8.8 WAR is 3 points higher than Pittsburgh's Dominique Graham who sits in second place. Jennings also has a 47 game on-base streak and a 29 game hitting streak, both highest in the BLB this season. Last season he was the Domestic Stout Slugger and there is no reason he shouldn't repeat once again.
4. Pawtucket's center fielder Dennis Daley still has a chance to tie or break the triple record of 22 held by Ricky 'Heartthrob' Figueroa. Not only does 'Heartthrob' hold the single season record, but he holds the career record with 167 as well. Daley though has 19 on the season, which is already good enough for second all-time. Four players currently sit in third with 18, led by none other than Richie 'Powder' van Luik. Currently Daley is on pace for 21, but when you are one of the fastest players in the league, and hitting .331 we'd say there is a chance he ties or even breaks it.
5. What's on tap? Well for one the defending back-to-back champs have a gauntlet as they first face California, and then Washington. LAD is 83-63 but could finish anywhere still from second in the wildcard, to out of the playoffs. This week might make or break them. The Kodiaks don't get it much easier as after they play the Dinos they welcome Batavia to town. Cali is 4-6 in September after dominating August with a 20-9 record. The GM is already in full meltdown mode but will his anger be enough for the Kodiaks to hold onto the Bock lead? Streak wise the Snappers and Clowns have lost seven straight, and the Exports and Candians have won five in a row.
