07/18/2050
It was a short week as the 2050 BLB All-Star game took center stage. The contest was played in Wilmington as the Import defeated the Domestic 9-5 behind the effort of Baltimore's Tadric Lowe who drove in three and scored one time. As far as the regular season goes, Maine and Washington took home the prize with three game sweeps of Syracuse and Philly respectively. The Guides have now won seven in a row and are tied with the Millers for the final Domestic wildcard spot.

Performance of the Week
RF Tyson Dodd - We missed this last week in our absence but Dodd turned in the 3rd best hitting performance of the season on July 8th against New Orleans. In five at bats he tallied up five hits, two home runs, drove in three, and scored four times in a 9-5 Tobs victory.
Prospect of the Week
C Centarius Lara - The 23 year old took home MVP honors in the BLB Propsects game this week after hitting a 2-run home run and scoring twice in the Import's 11-2 victory. The 23 year old was discovered out of Paraguay in 2043 by the Blues and is currently playing in AA for them. On the season he's hitting .269 with 11 HR and 47 RBI in 66 games.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. The back to back champion Dinos extended star pitcher Cole Socia this past week with a 5 year/$83,000,000 deal. The 30 year old was a second round pick back in 2040 and is 11-4 with a 2.88 ERA this season. He's a 2x All-Star and finished second in the Pale Ale voting back in 2047 when he was 21-5 with a 2.48 ERA.
2. Post All-Star break the playoff races look like this. In the Domestic it's Pittsburgh against Maine for one spot. In the Import it's Seattle, Baltimore, and New York for two spots. That's it. Not a whole lot of wildcard drama this year unless you are a fan of one of those teams. At least the division races look to be promising. In the Ale, Pawtucket currently leads Hartford by a half game. In the Lager, Toronto leads Dallas by two games. In the Stout, Batavia leads Washington by six games. In the Bock, Los Angeles leads California by two games. Those are some of the closest division races we've had at this point in the season.
3. Melchior Werth is the only player projected to reach 50 home runs this season. Looks like Turell 'Two Ton' Morris record of 69 back in 2030 is pretty safe. A few records might be challenged though. First up is the 93 stolen bases set last season by Chadd Chua, as Batavia's Zeke Lebron is on pace for 92. Next up is the triples record of 22 set by Ricky 'Heartthrob' Figueroa in 2029. Currently Pawtucket's Dennis Daley has 13 and is pace to tie the record. Finally we have Enrique Ferreira's doubles record of 66 set in 2007 that is being chased by Hartford's Latif Won. He currently has 34 and is on pace for 59.
4. Let's be honest though, the only record watch anyone cares about right now is the career home run one. Jamie O'Hearn better start booking tickets if he plans to watch his 612 career HR mark get shattered. Currently J.D. 'Hurricane' Rice is at 609 and is projected to reach 613 by the end of the season. Meanwhile Robert 'Stretch' Jessee is at 602 but is projected to hit 620 by the end of the season. Rice might end up breaking the record first just to watch 'Stretch' go by him a week or two after.
5. What's on tap? Well it's the week of the two-three match-up apparently as California travels to Seattle, Hartford travels to Pittsburgh, and then Washington heads over to Seattle. Those same Bats head to that series fresh off a three game one against the Red Jackets. Looks like a tough week for Pilots and Bats fans. Streak wise Maine and Washington have won seven and six in a row, while Syracuse and Philly have lost seven and five in a row. On the individual side Dennis Daley has a 15 game hitting streak.
