We take a month off and everyone loses their mind! Okay not really but we are finally back. Also thanks to our interim DK writer who did a fabulous job after last week. We just looked back and realized the Daily Keg has been in production for 20 seasons, so I guess everyone takes a vacation every now and then. Anyways...back to baseball! This past week Batavia, California, and Baltimore were the cream of the crop as they all went 5-1. Not far behind was Montreal who went 5-2. On the other side of life Denver went 0-6, while Philadelphia went 1-5.

Performance of the Week
1B Al Flanagan - Santo Domingo is selling everything including the kitchen sink but don't tell Flanagan. On July 23rd against Pittsburgh he crushed the Millers with the second best hitting performance of the season. In four at bats he had four hits, 2 HR, 5 RBI, and scored three times in a 15-8 drubbing of the Millers. The former 3rd overall pick of the 2042 draft is hitting .297/.353/.438 with 7 HR and 33 RBI on the season.
Prospect of the Week
1B Sage Emerson - The 1st overall pick from 2048 is having a monster season in AA where he's hitting .287/.381/.570 with 17 HR and 44 RBI in 63 games played. Born in Texas he defected and played his college career at Oklahoma where he was a 2x All-Star and hit 64 career home runs in his four seasons there. Scouts and coaches agree his work ethic and leadership is top notch, and the 22 year old could end up in the BLB by 2051.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. It's June and are the Domestic playoff teams already decided? It appears Hartford and Pawtucket are running away with the league, while Toronto, Dallas, and New Orleans have more than solid leads against the remaining teams. The only real question is Pittsburgh, who sits in the sixth spot, at 40-38. They currently have a five game lead against Maine and a six game lead against Indy for the final spot, but that could dissipate real quick.
2. Meanwhile in the Import at least we have a little drama. Batavia, California, and Los Angeles appear to be locks. After that we seem to have a four team race for only three spots as Washington, Baltimore, Seattle and New York are all within three games of each other. Currently Seattle has the lowest odds to reach the playoffs as they have the hardest remaining schedule, while the Bats have the easiest and best odds.
3. Pat 'Melody' Nunes won the Player of the Week in the Domestic with a 5 HR/12 RBI week as the 41 year old continues to shine. After two sub-par years, first in Indy and then Indy/Pawtucket he put up a 6.2 WAR last season in Pittsburgh and is on pace for a projected 4.4 WAR this season over only 97 total games. Our math isn't always the best but we figure that would be 7+ over a 162 game season. Maine got him for only $8.5 million at the end of April and he could be some tantalizing trade bait for a team looking to add not only an impact bat but a solid first basement as well.
4. All-Star voting is hot and heavy as Will Harper of Pawtucket and Beaumont Sanchez of Baltimore lead the Domestic and Import respectively. Harper was the 44th overall pick by Phoenix back in the 2040 draft, while Sanchez was the 206th! Talk about your diamond in the rough. The left fielder went from hitting .236 over his high school career to now batting .274/.384/.472 with 12 HR, 44 RBI, and 20 SB so far this season in the bigs.
5. What's on tap? Well we got some juicy series this week as Washington travels to Batavia, Hartford travels to Toronto, and Pawtucket travels to Dallas. Every one of those teams are either first or second in their division. So far this year the Bats have taken four of six against the Red Jackets, Hartford and Toronto are tied at two, and the Patriots swept the Drillers over their three game series in mid-May. Streak wise Toronto's Aubrey 'Gypsy' Albano has hit safely in 26 games (as the Canadians attendance just continues to rise due to it), Pawtucket starter Paycen Bemis is now 7-0 on the season and has won nine straight, while Washington starter Ryan 'Danger Man' Anderson has one upped him by losing his first game of the season, but reeling off ten straight wins since.
