    Performance of the Week

P Lamar Peralta - It's all Pawtucket this week as the 29 year old who's been a lifelong Patriot turned in the 11th best pitching performance of the season on May 20th against Dallas. Over the course of 8.1 innings he allowed only five hits, no runs, no walks and struck out 10 as Pawtucket won 4-0. On the year he's now 6-1 with a 2.91 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 138 ERA+. He also looks to be in line for his first All-Star appearance.

    Prospect of the Week

LF Beck Behanna - We figured we'd keep riding the Patriot train as Behanna is currently the 41st overall prospect in the league. Drafted 10th overall by Pawtucket in 2044 he was a 3x HS All-Star and one of the best hitters in the draft. He's now in AAA where he is hitting .326/.382/.543 with 6 HR and 18 RBI in only 33 games. He got to play four games in the bigs this season after playing 16 last year, but it might be another year before he's a full time call-up.

Five Things We Think We Think

    1. Let's talk about Pawtucket some more...ok lets not. How about California though...did they break the curse? In the first game of their four game series with rival Washington they lost 1-0 at home and you could hear the screams from the GM's box. In the next game they were down 5-1 in the 6th before the GM personally went down to the dugout and threatened to trade or release every single player on the team. The Kodiaks came storming back to tie it, and ended up winning in the 10th on a pinch hit single by Lawrence Gatzioudis. The following night Washington came back to tie it before Joseph 'Llama' Llamas hit a solo walk-off shot in the 11th. Finally just yesterday Washington's Colby 'Mirror' Hullinger hit a two-run home run in the 9th to once again send it to extra innings. This time though it went all the way until the 16th. Washington scored in the top of the inning, and California found themselves down to their last out with runners on first and second. With the GM glaring at him from the on deck circle (security was waved off), center fielder Brian Vanderzee hit a double. Kodiak legend Joey Robertson raced all the way around the bases and after safely sliding into home was met by the GM who immediately offered him an 8 year contract.

    2. In just as exciting news JD 'Hurricane' Rice hit another home run this week, giving him 607 for his career total. Robert 'Stretch' Jessee was not to be outdone though as he cracked two more dingers to give him 594. 'Hurricane' might get there first, but 'Stretch' now has 16 home runs on the season and is on pace to smash the record. The 36 year old is playing like a 26 year old and won his second Player of the Week award today.

    3. The Pilots have won 11 of their last 12 and just had a huge three game sweep of the Bulldogs while on the road. Seattle outscored Baltimore 28-7 over the series, which included a six run 9th inning in the final game. The first two runs of that inning came when Kyle 'Salesman' Olmsted smoked a two-run shot after Wyatt 'Snowball' Meeks got on with a single then stole second base. There were more than a few boos around the stadium when Meeks slid safely in with a nice six run lead in the 9th. Later in the inning runners from second were given the go signal on two straight singles, and beat the throw home, which caused even more boos to rain down. The final runs were scored off wild pitches, with Kynan Shaw easily trotting home to make it 15-3 then blowing a kiss at the crowd. These teams meet again at the end of June and it could be interesting to say the least.

    4. All though it was a rough series for Baltimore they are getting everything they wanted and more from Nathan 'Missing Link' McKelvey. Acquired last season from Maine he finished last year 5-5 with a 3.62 ERA for the Bulldogs. This year in 10 starts he's 6-0 with a 1.27 ERA, 82 K, 8 BB, and a 310 ERA+. The 31 year old will be going to his third straight All-Star game and is a front runner already to win the Import Pale Ale. He was the Domestic Pale Ale in 2048 and could be one of the rare double league winners.

    5. What's on tap? Starting today we get Baltimore traveling to Batavia, and California heading south to Los Angeles. Baltimore sits on 26-20 and desperately wants to forgot about the home stand sweep against Seattle. Unfortunately for them Batavia is a whopping 22-6 at home and is tied with LAD for the second best record in the league. Meanwhile California takes their band of merry gentlemen on the road where the Kodiaks are currently 10-12. Their ERA away from home is almost a point higher, while their batting average falls from .268 to .244. Rumor is since the GM doesn't have a box on the road he sits in the dugout and the players are just scared.

It's an interesting stat... Some of those guys look they could really run... They must also hit a lot of bullets to short stop to get doubled up that often!
