Other nice weeks were had by New York, LAD, and Hartford who all went 5-1. The Dinos and Whalers lead their divisions while New York is now four back from Batavia. On the flip side Wilmington, SDR, Montreal, and Syracuse all went 1-5 against their Import foes. Some team leaders: NY scored 45 runs (SDR 12), Hartford allowed 11 runs (WIL 48), Toronto swiped 15 bases (NY 0), Hartford allowed zero HR (Car 12), and Toronto struck out 80 opposing batters (Dal 29).

Performance of the Week
LF Kade Priddy - The former 1.7 pick of the 2039 draft has become injury prone over the last few seasons but still has the bat to be worth his $20m a year contract. Yesterday against Carolina he showed it off again when he tallied up four hits, two HR, drove in five, and scored three times as the Millers held on to win 9-8 in a wild one. On the season the 31 year old is hitting .343/.369/.600 with 7 HR and 38 RBI.
Prospect of the Week
3B Jeremy Dillingham - The 20 year old has progressively gotten better each season as his OPS+ has climbed from 75 to 93 to124 to a whopping190 this season. He was just selected to his first Cape Cod All-Star game, and he's currently hitting .337/.491/.692 with 18 HR and 41 RBI in 49 games. He's also put up a +5.5 ZR at third base and has one of the stronger arms in the draft.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Batavia and Seattle brawled two weeks ago as Zeke Lebron was suspended three games, and Tom Lemings got six, for their bench clearing scuffle. This past week it was Pawtucket and Carolina mixing things up in the squared diamond. In the 6th inning Tobs pitcher Calvin Navratil gave up a 2-run home run to Will Harper. All the frustration of Navratil's season (0-6, 6.85 ERA) finally exploded when he decided to go after Sean Sayers who was up next. After almost hitting him with a far inside ball, then throwing inside again (Sayers managed to foul it off), he finally beaned him on the fourth pitch of the bat. Sayers charged the mound and the fight was on. Navratil got six games off while Sayers will sit for three.
2. The Freedom had seen enough this season as last week their GM fired bench coach Al Kelly, pitching coach Manabu Hamada, and batting coach Mat Marcus. For those that don't remember Kelly was a Stout Slugger, 2x All-Star and won the 2025 title with Indy. Hamada meanwhile was a 3x Pale Ale recipient, 5x All-Star, and won the 2037 title with Carolina. We guess sometimes being able to play doesn't translate to being able to coach.
3. The 3000 hit club has 14 players in it, but we could add another at the end of the season. Maine's Pat Nunes is currently on pace to finish the season with 3001 hits. Throw in the fact that JD Rice has hit two home runs and is on pace for 613, which would set the record, but then Robert Jessee is on pace to shatter that...well it could be a fun September for fans around the county.
4. The so called 'feeder' leagues are in full playoff mode as the the BLB draft fast approaches. At the High School level the Jefferson City Jaguars currently hold a 1-0 advantage in the championship series against the White Hall Hounds. Jefferson City played Cretin-Derham in the semifinals and won both games by the combined score of 35-3. In the first game of the championship series they beat White Hall 11-2. Goodness will the Hounds even show up? In the CCBL Yarmouth-Dennis awaits the winner of Brewster-Chatham to play for the Cape Cup, while the NCAA is one game into the Regionals.
5. What's on tap? This week we get to see Hartford play in two big series. First they travel to Pawtucket for three, then off to Toronto for a four game series against the Lager leading Canadians. We would say "now we can see if they are for real", but we already know that. The Whalers are 26-12 and sport the best record in the league. Could we see another run like they had from 2030-2038 where they went to the playoffs eight times and won two titles? We also get a fun four game series between Washington and California. Last year the Bats went 9-2 against the Kodiaks as no other team has Cali's number like their biggest rival. Do we even dare to mentioned they are 18-3 against California in the playoffs over the last decade with a run differential of +61?
