    The Brewski's

The Daily Keg is excited to announce the 11th Brewski's award show. The selection committee has 'poured' over the season stats and excitedly announces the winners for the following awards, some serious...some not so serious. So without further delay here we go.

    Player of the Year

1B Pat 'Melody' Nunes, PIT - Picked up by Pittsburgh for a cool $8m in April, the 40 year old put up his second best season ever by WAR. Over 143 games he hit .327/.386/.614 with 40 HR, 106 RBI, and a 163 OPS+. He was an All-Star, finished second in the Stout Slugger voting, was the Domestic Designated Driver at 1B, and helped lead the Millers to a 3-0 Brewmasters lead...which they promptly blew. Known around the league as the 'bad guy', apparently the key to motivate Nunes is money, and playing for a contract is all he needs.

2030 winner: 3B Johnny 'Big Stick' Swope, SEA
2031 winner: 1B Turell 'Two Ton' Morris, MAI
2032 winner: 3B Johnny 'Big Stick' Swope, SEA
2033 winner: C Ian James, SDR
2034 winner: 1B Johnny 'Big Stick' Swope, SEA
2035 winner: 1B Johnny 'Big Stick' Swope, CAL
2036 winner: 1B Johnny 'Big Stick' Swope, CAL
2037 winner: CF Rory Elia, CAR
2039 winner: LF Richie 'Powder' van Luik, SEA
2049 winner: 3B Chance Maki, MAI

    Hitter of the Year

1B Will Harper, PAW - No one had a higher OBP or OPS+ than Harper whose .406 OBP and 169 OPS+ led the league. The 26 year old was the 44th overall pick in 2040 by Phoenix but was traded to Toronto, then Pawtucket in 2043. He was traded back to Toronto at the end of 2047 before being traded back to Pawtucket at the end of 2048. The poor guy might finally have a home now though as he hit .325/.406/.607 with 31 HR, and 100 RBI while leading the Patriots to the best record in the league.

2030 winner: 1B Turell 'Two Ton' Morris, MAI
2031 winner: RF Ron 'Vampire' Hutchison, HAR
2032 winner: 1B Jermaine Williams, IND
2033 winner: 1B Manny Quezada, PHO
2034 winner: LF Fred Falloon, IND
2035 winner: DH Ron 'Vampire' Hutchison, HAR
2036 winner: CF Rory Elia, CAR
2037 winner: DH Manny Quezada, WIL
    2039 winner: 1B J.D. 'Hurricane' Rice, BAL
2049 winner: DH Robert 'Stretch' Jessee, TOR

    Pitcher of the Year

P Clay Watson, WC - The 25 year old was a 10th round pick by Windy City back in 2041 and has turned into one of the most dominant relievers in the league over his short career. This past season he was 10-3 with 16 saves over 174 innings pitched. He sported a 2.28 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and his 174 ERA+, 11.6 K/9, and .198 opponents average all led the league.

    2030 winner: Manabu Hamada, DEN
    2031 winner: Manabu Hamada, DEN
    2032 winner: Noel Graham, MAI
2033 winner: Pat 'Baja' Arballo, WAS
    2034 winner: JJ Plumley, WIL
    2035 winner: JJ Plumley, WIL
    2036 winner: JJ Plumley, WIL
    2037 winner: JJ Plumley, WIL
    2039 winner: Barton Mejia, WC
    2049 winner: Andy Phillips, BAL

    Rookie of the Year

CF Dennis Daley - He won the Domestic Refreshing New Brew, was an All-Star, put up a 4.5 WAR, and hit .315/.365/.477 with 8 HR, 60 RBI, and 22 SB. So what did Toronto do with their center fielder for the next decade after the season...they traded him to Pawtucket? True they got Aubrey 'Gypsy' Albano out of it, but rarely do you see superstars and future superstars of this caliber switch teams. Daley was the fourth overall pick by the Canadians in 2047 and looks to have a bright future to say the least.

2030 winner: 1B Pat Walton, HAR
2031 winner: 2B Alex Arana, SDR
2032 winner: 1B Dave Perry, PIT
2033 winner: 2B Tom Martin, NYK
2034 winner: CF Rory Elia, CAR
2035 winner: RF Robert 'Stretch' Jessee
2036 winner: 3B Dawson 'Wedge' Davis, WC
2037 winner: 1B Edgar Alonzo, WAS
2039 winner: LF Davis Abbott, WIL
2049 winner: 1B Sylvester Morwood, BAL
    __________________________________________________

    All-State Hands Award
(Given to the player with the most total chances and no errors...who doesn't play primarily first base)

CF Alonzo Wiles, NYC - The man in center had 363 total chances, and no errors to his name. Not bad for a 7th round pick back in 2041 by the then Knights. At only 26 he's a true corner outfielder, but New York is letting him learn center as well, and learn he did. With blazing speed (he had 42 steals), and a work ethic raved about by coaches, he should player center in the Big Apple for the next five plus years without an issue.

2030 winner: RF Dusty Janson, DEN
2031 winner: LF Jamie Hendon, NY
2032 winner: CF Gil Banda, SEA
2033 winner: CF Tom White, SDR
2034 winner: RF Donnie Wilson, MON
2035 winner: CF Mat Weir, NO
2036 winner: CF Ian 'Viper' Lisch, NO
    2037 winner: CF Rick Watson
2039 winner: CF Cayden Huff, WIL
2049 winner: CF Jakob Lopez, WIL

    Army Ranger Sniper Award
(Given to the catcher with the highest runner thrown out percentage with a minimum of 30 attempts)

C Kyle Burnett, PIT - Regulated to a backup role he still played enough that 74 base runners attempted to steal on him. He threw out 30 of them for a 40.5% RTO, which lead the league. Even though his arm isn't what is used to be, his ability is as a catcher is second to none. The Millers pitchers will definitely miss him calling games behind the plate.

2030 winner: C Micah Gordon, WIL
2031 winner: C Ian 'Pickles' James, SDR
2032 winner: C Landon McClelland, PHI
2033 winner: C Tristan Logan, SEA
2034 winner: C Dusty Akkerman, PAW
2035 winner: C Micah Gordon, PIT
2036 winner: C Sean Covington, SYR
2037 winner: C Jayden Dean, PAW
2039 winner: C Dave James, PAW
2049 winner: C Evan James, MON

    Frank Abagnale, Jr Award
    (
Given to the player who stole at least 30 bases and was caught the least)

CF Alonzo Wiles, NYC - We mentioned above he stole 42 bases, what we didn't say is that it only took him 48 attempts to do so. His stolen base percentage of 87.5 wins Wiles his second Brewski of the season. Not bad at all kid.

2030 winner: CF Pat Welch, BAT
2031 winner: LF Akiyuki Kimura, MAI
2032 winner: RF R.J. Kapper, PIT
2033 winner: RF R.J. Kapper, PIT
2034 winner: RF R.J. Kapper, PIT
2035 winner: CF Seth Blankenship, SYR
2036 winner: CF Marcos Savage, LAD
2037 winner: RF Riley Thomas, SEA
2039 winner: RF Gilles 'Mudcat' Rugiero, PHI
2049 winner: 2B Joseph 'Bane' Garneau, CHI

    Ludacris Award
    (
Given to the player who got hit with the most pitches)

1B Jaxson Neal, TOR - What a season for Neal. He hit .311/.393/.577 with 35 HR, and 94 RBI. He also had a 2049 All-Star appearance, hit his 300th career home run in September, finished 3rd in the Domestic Stout Slugger race, and he earned $23m from the Canadians on a one year deal. Last but not least he got beaned an amazing 30 times, most in the league and five more than second place. Talk about doing it all.

2030 winner: 1B Geoff 'Mr. Reliable' Dail, MIA
2031 winner: 2B Dave 'Bulldog' Bickford, NY
2032 winner: 2B Tristan Hagen, HAR
    2033 winner: 1B Joy-shan Guo, BAT
2034 winner: LF Benny Tatsuno, PIT
2035 winner: 2B Hideki Nakayama, MAI
2036 winner: RF Tony Chieregati, HAR
2037 winner: RF Hyun-seung Bark, BAT
2039 winner: LF Chang-hyun Kym, HAR
2049 winner: 3B Jericho Gurgenidze, PAW

    Broadside of the Barn Award
(Given to the player with the highest strikeouts per plate appearance)

2B Damone Iwata, SEA - Last season his 42.8% K percentage was the highest in the league, and the only player over 40%. This season he improved to 39.4% but sadly still led the league. The rest of his offensive numbers weren't much better as he hit .189/.254/.355. On the defensive side though he posted a +5.5 ZR at 2B over the course of 90 games, which helped him stay in the starting lineup.

2030 winner: LF Sayid bin Sariyah, LAD
2031 winner: C Sean Gallion, SYR
2032 winner: 1B Tom Lewis, MAI
2033 winner: C Jaime 'Dodo' Bushnell, CAR
2034 winner: 1B Dave Schaefer, NYK
2035 winner: C Jaden Stills, MAI
2036 winner: 1B Tommy Spielman, LAD
2037 winner: LF Grant Hockensmith, CAR
2039 winner: SS Shannon Jackson, PHO
2049 winner: 2B Damone Iwata, SEA

Swing For Between the Infielders Award
(Given to the player with the most hits but no home runs)

2B Joseph 'Bane' Garneau - The 7th overall pick of the 2033 draft has posted a career .302 average over 12 seasons while being a sure handed second basement. Power though was never his strong point, as his 11 career home runs can attest to. This season he hit .299 with 149 total hits, but not one of them made it over the fence. In those 12 seasons he's hit zero home runs in six of them, and he now has a streak going of not hitting one out of the park since 2046.

2030 winner: 2B Ricky 'Heartthrob' Figueroa, DEN
2031 winner: 2B Ricky 'Heartthrob' Figueroa, DEN
2032 winner: 3B Ron Morgan, SDR
2033 winner: RF Tom Lyon, PHO
2034 winner: C Tony Solorio, HAR
2035 winner: 2B Ricky 'Heartthrob' Figueroa, WC
2036 winner: 2B Ricky 'Heartthrob' Figueroa, WC
2037 winner: RF Kam Foster, NO
2039 winner: C Dave Nichols, MIA
2049 winner: SS Johnny Whitaker, BAL

    Dickey's BBQ Beans Award
(Given to the pitcher who hits the most batters)

P Greg Bryan - He had a pretty average season for the Bats where he posted a 93 ERA+, but since it's Washington he ended up 13-5 on the year. His reward was being sent down to AAA after the season. One thing he excelled at though was hitting opposing batters. His 23 bean balls were seven more than second place. At 33 years old scouts don't think he has control issues, they just think he's mean.

    2030 winner: Nate Bettis, PHO
    2031 winner: Pat Burgess, PIT
2032 winner: Robby 'Bruiser' McEvoy, BAL
    2033 winner: Jarrod Peacock, PHI
2034 winner: Robby 'Bruiser' McEvoy, BAL
    2035 winner: Erik Martin, NYK
2036 winner: Sheng 'Admiral' Jong, SDR
2037 winner: Sheng 'Admiral' Jong, SDR
    2039 winner: Zachary Kennedy, MAI
    2049 winner: Nicholas Rae, TOR

    The Milton Swingline Stapler Award
(The player who earned a check without deserving one)

LF Rory Elia - At 36 years old Elia has become a boat anchor on the Freedom ledger books. This past season he earned $30,000,000 and rewarded Philly by hitting .190/.250/.381 with 4 HR before tearing his labrum in May and missing the rest of the season. It hurts to put him on this list, as he's a sure future Hall of Fame selection, but since he opted in for another $30m next season he kind of deserves it. After this season he will eclipse the $400,000,000 career earnings mark, so many thought he should have rode off into the sunset. Alas he did not so we'll have to see the 10x All-Star, 6x DD, 4x DWI, 2x Stout Slugger, and 2037 champion with Carolina limp off into the sunset instead.

2030 winner: P Jerrod Blick, TOR
2031 winner: P Jerrod Blick, TOR
2032 winner: 1B Dylan Owens, TOR
2033 winner: 3B Erik Redding, CAL
2034 winner: 1B Dylan Owens, TOR
    2035 winner: 1B Joy-shan Guo, BAT
2036 winner: SS Pat Pierce, CAR
2037 winner: P Jarrod Peacock, PHI
2039 winner: CF Dave Tibbs, SD
2049 winner: SS Jim LaPointe, SEA
