The New Orleans Voodoo went 6-1...a fantastic week by any stretch of the imagination. The only way you could do better is with the 'unicorn', or what is known around Brewers League Baseball as a perfect 7-0 week. Well we'd like to welcome the Pawtucket Patriots to the unicorn club. They started out the week sweeping Indy, then finished the week sweeping Pittsburgh. Okay true, both those teams are 6-13...but it's still impressive. On the other side of life Santo Domingo went 1-6, while Indy, Wilmington, and Montreal all went 2-5. Some weeks you're the unicorn, some weeks you sit on the horn.

Performance of the Week
1B Chase Bartell - The 6'7 slugger that hails from Batavia, New York, finished second in the IL New Brew in 2046 while playing for Denver. He started his sophomore season in a slump though and Denver quickly moved on and sent him down to AAA. Talk about a short leash! He was eventually part of a blockbuster deal between the Snappers and Bulls, and Bartell is once again getting his shot. On April 24th against SDR he hit two home runs, drove in four, and scored three times in a 9-5 Syracuse victory. On the season he's now hitting .276/.368/.566 with 6 HR and 19 RBI. He's on pace to hit 49 HR while driving in over 150 runs. Not a bad rebound to say the least.
Prospect of the Week
P Logan Fleshman - Between Cayden Wittmeyer and Fleshman the Guides have a 1-2 punch for the next decade that could easily mean 30+ wins a season between them. Logan is the third overall ranked prospect in the league, is 22 years old, and looks to be ready to make his major league debut. His fastball can hit 101 mph, his splitter is deadly, and once he works on his curveball and changeup it will be a good weekend for fans to watch these two youngsters pitch on back to back nights.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Melchior Werth is a year ahead schedule. He won the Stout Slugger in 2046, finished second in 2047, and then won it again in 2048. He shouldn't be due until next season but nobody bothered to tell him that. So far in 18 games he's hitting .462/.493/.831 with 5 HR, 16 RBI, and a 'pedestrian' 249 OPS+. The 28 year old is on pace for a 12.3 WAR and is literally at the peak of his powers. That's a scary thought for every pitcher around the league.
2. It was a good week for the Voodoo, and a good week for closer Cooper 'Braveheart' Stewart. He finished off the previous week with a 2.2 inning, five hit, two-run loss. That gave him as many losses on the season as all of last year...which was one. This past week though he got back on track in a big way. In each of his five appearances he pitched one inning, allowed no runs, and picked up a save. He now has eight saves in 10 games this season while boasting a 1.64 ERA.
3. Third basemen Pat 'Melody' Nunes signed a one year deal with Pittsburgh a few weeks ago, the 10th team he's played for in his illustrious career. He's one of the most disliked players in the league by teammates, coaches, media, and fans...but boy can he hit the ball. This past week he smacked his 1000th extra base hit, making him the 22nd player in the history of the league to reach that number. At 40 years old the 5x All-Star and 2039 champion (WAS) is still showing he can play like the younger, just as angry version of himself.
4. No one has stolen more bases, or been caught stealing more bases, than the Phoenix Roadrunners this season. Apparently they have pulled out all the stops in the 'lets copy our mascot' contest and have fully embraced the roadrunner. The vast majority of the thefts though have come from two players, Tavin Kang (13) and Chadd Chua (12). Their 25 combined stolen bases is actually more than 14 teams in the league, and tied with the 15th. They've also only been caught a combined five times. You know who hasn't embraced the roadrunner, Ethan Lopez. In trying to be like the dynamic duo he's managed to only steal one base while getting thrown out three times. Chalk one up for the coyote.
5. What's on tap? This past week saw the end of Neel 'Tracer' Benarrivo's 25 game hitting streak, as for the first time this season he didn't get on base. We do have two nice active streaks though as Seth Donna is up to 21, and Kyle 'Salesman' Olmsted is at 19. Team wise Pawtucket has won nine straight, and now boasts a three game lead in the Ale, while Indy has lost five in a row. The series of the week belongs to those mentioned Patriots who at 15-5 will host the 15-5 Voodoo. New Orleans is 6-1 on the road, while the Patriots are 6-1 at home. We feel as if something is going to have to give in this one.
