    The Brewski's

The Daily Keg is excited to announce the 10th Brewski's award show. After drinking too much pre-Brewski's the last decade and missing the award show, we are back with a bang! The selection committee has 'poured' over the season stats and excitedly announces the winners for the following awards, some serious...some not so serious. So without further delay here we go.

    Player of the Year

3B Chance Maki, MAI - He hit .325/.426/.550 with 25 HRs, 99 RBI, 15 SB...and led the Guides to one game away from winning the Brewmasters Cup. He finished 3rd in the Stout Slugger, but took home the Designated Driver at third while going to his fourth All-Star game.

    Hitter of the Year

DH Robert 'Stretch' Jessee, TOR - He now plays for the Whalers but last season the 34 year old crushed it for the Canadians. In 160 games he hit .326/.397/.616 with 47 HR, 125 RBI and a 169 OPS+. He also won the Stout Slugger, his third one, and this one was 12 years after he won it the first time.

2037 winner: DH Manny Quezada, WIL
    2039 winner: 1B J.D. 'Hurricane' Rice, BAL

    Pitcher of the Year

P Andy Phillips, BAL - The stopper for the Bulldogs pitched an amazing 133 innings, only started two games, and led the league with a 1.69 ERA and 231 ERA+. He was the 1.1 of the 2040 draft that was the result of the Dominique Graham trade, and all though he never developed a starters third pitch it appears he's doing just fine.

    2030 winner: Manabu Hamada, DEN

    2032 winner: Noel Graham, MAI

    2037 winner: JJ Plumley, WIL
2039 winner: P Barton Mejia, WC

    Rookie of the Year

1B Sylvester Morwood, BAL - A few other rookies had better numbers, but none of them were the seventh pick in the 10th round of the draft. With pick number 223 Morwood was taken by the Patriots, but came to Baltimore in 2047 via trade. He played in 128 games in 2048 where he hit .267/.337/.498 with 31 HR and 81 RBI.

    __________________________________________________

    All-State Hands Award
(Given to the player with the most total chances and no errors...who doesn't play primarily first base)

CF Jakob Lopez, WIL - The man in center had 333 total chances, and no errors to his name. He also smacked 35 HR, drove in 99, and swiped 44 bases. Seems like a pretty good season to us.

2032 winner: CF Gil Banda, SEA
2033 winner: CF Tom White, SDR

2039 winner: CF Cayden Huff, WIL

    Army Ranger Sniper Award
(Given to the catcher with the highest runner thrown out percentage with a minimum of 30 attempts)

C Evan James, MON - One of the best defensive catchers in the game showed why when he gunned down an amazing 43.2% (41 out of 95) of opposing base runners. The former fourth round pick by Montreal back in 2037 was also an All-Star, and took home the DD and DWI for catcher. Not a bad year.

    Frank Abagnale, Jr Award
    (
Given to the player who stole at least 30 bases and was caught the least)

2B Joseph 'Bane' Garneau, CHI - Last season he was in Windy City where he attempted to steal 38 times, and was victorious in 35 of them. His 92.1% success rate was tops in the league for our criteria. Not bad for a guy who isn't the fastest on the base paths but is known to have instincts second to none.

2030 winner: CF Pat Welch, BAT
2031 winner: LF Akiyuki Kimura, MAI
2032 winner: RF R.J. Kapper, PIT

3B Jericho Gurgenidze, PAW - No one took more balls to the body than poor Jericho. In 133 games he got beaned a whopping 33 times, seven more than second place. He's also now doing TV ads for Motrin, Advil, and Tylenol.

2030 winner: 1B Geoff 'Mr. Reliable' Dail, MIA
2031 winner: 2B Dave 'Bulldog' Bickford, NY

    Broadside of the Barn Award
(Given to the player with the highest strikeouts per plate appearance)

2B Damone Iwata, SEA - The former first round pick by Seattle in 2044 has two flaws in his offensive game...putting the bat on the ball, and avoiding strikeouts. Not a good combination. Last season he played in 47 games, had 159 at bats, and struck out 74 times. His 42.8% was the highest in the league, and the only player over 40%.

2030 winner: LF Sayid bin Sariyah, LAD
2031 winner: C Sean Gallion, SYR

Swing For Between the Infielders Award
(Given to the player with the most hits but no home runs)

SS Johnny Whitaker, BAL - He's one of the best fielders in the game over the last decade, and works as hard as anyone, but he's almost as well known for his lack of power. In 1055 major league games, Whitaker has hit a grand total of three home runs. Last season in 148 games he chalked up 122 hits, but alas none of them went over the fence.

2030 winner: 2B Ricky 'Heartthrob' Figueroa, DEN

2039 winner: C Dave Nichols, MIA

    Dickey's BBQ Beans Award
(Given to the pitcher who hits the most batters)

P Nicholas Rae, TOR - Don't let him fool you, Rae has plenty of control, he just doesn't like it when opposing hitters crowd the plate. Actually he just doesn't like opposing hitters. Last season in 18 starts he went 11-2 for Toronto, while also beaning 20 batters in 186 innings.

2030 winner: P Nate Bettis, PHO
2031 winner: P Pat Burgess, PIT

2037 winner: P Sheng 'Admiral' Jong, SDR
2039 winner: P Zachary Kennedy, MAI

    The Milton Swingline Stapler Award
(The player who earned a check without deserving one)

SS Jim LaPointe, SEA - In the first year of his 4 year/$57.6m contract he earned a cool $15.5 million and put up a -0.8 WAR. Known for his glove we aren't sure what's worse, that he hit .215 in 126 games, or that he played 117 games at shortstop and put up a 0.0 zone rating.

2030 winner: P Jerrod Blick, TOR
2031 winner: P Jerrod Blick, TOR
