2049 Season Predictions
Ale
x Pawtucket
z Wilmington
Maine
Hartford
Pittsburgh
Syracuse
Pawtucket has been the class of the Ale for a while now, and there is no reason to think this season will be any different. A veteran pitching staff anchored by Cameron Copeland and Lamar Peralta compliment an offence that features Aubrey Albano, and burgeoning superstar Will Harper. With a core of proven winners, 96 wins and the Ale title seem to be a forgone conclusion. Wilmington gets one last kick at the can this year. With Jakob Lopez, and Gary Fioroli heading to FA next year and a bloated payroll this might be the last chance for this core. Pale Ale type performances from Seth Cobb a\nd Aman Dojorovic propel the Clowns to a playoff birth. Unfortunately only two Ale teams will be in the playoffs this year. Maine, the returning Brew finalist puts up a valiant push, but falls just short, as the team focuses on shoring up their front offices instead of the infield product. Hartford, Pittsburgh, and Syracuse are all in various stages of rebuilding and are all looking to get to 0.500.
Lager
x New Orleans
z Toronto
z Dallas
z Santo Domingo
Montreal
Indianapolis
The BLB’s toughest division will continue to be a dogfight this year as well. New Orleans has a deep and talented pitching staff anchored by long-time aces Martin Hoffman, Tom Lemmings, and Chance Hilton. An offence that features some up and coming talent in Parker Cook and Ahkello Rodriguez do just enough to push the Voodoo to the division crown and 91 wins. The loss of the Robert Jessee won’t sting the Canadians at all as the GM turned that contract into big bats Dominique Graham and Jaxson Neal. Add that to Abel Valley, Dane Jennings, and Amonte Raper, and you have an offence that no pitcher wants to face. All in, all out, and all in again. Dallas is the BLB’s most exciting franchise and this year will be no different, as the Drillers return a roster loaded with all stars in both the offence and the defence. Any offence that has Colby Hullinger batting 6thand enough speed to steal a base every time anyone gets on is certainly going to be a problem in the postseason. The final Lager playoff team is Santo Domingo. Althgouh they haven’t been in the playoffs since 2045, their offseason has them primed for a late wild card push. Preston Capps, Cade Hogan, and Rayburn Michel all put up all star campaigns and the fans of the Rum Runners are playoff bound once again. Motreal, rebuilding, and Indianapolis, getting close to ending theirs, unfortunately spend the season just trying to play 0.500 ball.
Stout
x Batavia
z Washington
z Philadelphia
Baltimore
New York
Carolina
In a shocking development, new GM Shark jumps behind the wheel in Batavia, instills some pitching and defence and take the Red Jackets to the mountain top. Long boasting the best farm system in the BLB, and the frontline pitching of Skylar Buckaloo have the Batavians reaching 93 wins and top spot in a very tough Stout. Washington, with a strong offseason, picks up the #2 spot. Late pickup Karson Blair, and mega star Daryl Walken lead an offence that supports an always tough pitching staff bosting Greg Bryan and Ryan Anderson leading the way. Philadelphia takes the last playoff spot with a loaded roster that was one win away from the Brew last season. They boast one of the strongest starting staffs in the BLB, and just enough offence to support it. Although it comes down to the final week, Baltimore, New York, and Carolina all miss the playoffs. Baltimore’s offence does push Philadelphia to the final day, and unfortunately come up a game short as they lose in a one game playoff.
Bock
x Los Angeles
z Phoenix
z Denver
California
Seattle
Windy City
Last year’s Brew champ returns to repeat at the top of the divsion. Los Angeles has a well-rounded team, and the game’s best defence. Losing Capps at the end of last season made no difference, as the Dinos rely on a pitching staff heade by young superstar Dwan Tamarovsky and playoff ace Cole Socia. Phoenix continues it’s hot playoff run of the last few years with another playoff appearance. A strong Road Runner pitching staff backs an offence the features an ageless Chadd Chua at the top of the order and stars Neel Benarrivo, Judd Ramirez, and Rory Levin. Denver takes the sixth and final spot in the IL playoffs. With Brendan Linnett leading the staff and an offence that can bomb their way to any win, the Bulls look to finally break their Brew curse this year. This is the year the BLB’s longest playoff streak comes to an end, as an aging Kodiak team finally misses the playoffs. Seattle, and Windy City also put up a caliant battle but fall just short, as every team in the Bock finishes with between 76 and 88 wins.
