With most teams playing seven it was Philly, Toronto, and New York who won the week by going 6-1. The Freedom are now back to .500, while New York leads them by four games in the Stout, and Toronto is 43-29 and trailing Montreal by only 2.5 games. Other nice weeks were had by Batavia, California, and Dallas who all went 5-2. Not so nice weeks were New Orleans and Baltimore who went 1-6, while Hartford went 1-5. Some team leaders: Philly scored 49 runs on 82 hits, Washington swiped 11 bases, Batavia slugged 13 home runs, California only allowed 14 runs, and the Kodiaks K'd 93 opposing batters.

Performance of the Week
P Westley Whitham - On June 17th against New Orleans ol' Westley turned in the 12th best performance of the season in a 7-0 Toronto victory. In a complete game shutout (his second in a week) he struck out eight, walked one, and allowed only three hits. The 30 year old was discovered in Aruba by Denver scouts back in 2033 but released in 2034. He was then signed by Baltimore, went to two minor league All-Star games, but was released in 2038. The Canadians signed him and since 2040 he's started 193 games for them over the last nine seasons.
Prospect of the Week
P Dwan Tamarovsky - The #1 prospect in the league could be a Pale Ale winning pitcher not far down the road. In AAA this season he's 10-0 with a 2.22 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 165 ERA+. He's still working on developing his slider and fastball, so who knows how good the 22 year old will be when it's all said and done. We think more than pretty good though.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. No one is happier that Toronto brought up their prospects to try and start winning than Robert 'Stretch' Jessee. This past week he homered in six straight games and drove in 17 runs as Toronto went 6-1. The 9x All-Star and 2x Stout Slugger has never won a title and would love nothing more than to lead the Canadians to their first since 2022. With Derek Bell winning five of his last six, and youngsters Amonte Raper, Dane Jennings, Abel 'Stumpy' Valley, Bryant Keough, and Will Harper all playing well, 'Stretch' just might have his dream come true.
2. We're almost to July and only three times register a 0.0% in the playoff probability charts. Santo Domingo, Indy, and Hartford are the unlucky few, but even the Rum Runners look to have a small shot. What does this mean for the trade market? Well we're not really sure. We've had several big moves lately, but there appears to be some stars that are available that no one is biting on. When you have 21 teams still in it no one is really eager to start selling off just quite yet.
3. With the 2048 BLB draft over we had a few shuffles in the Top Systems ranking as the Dinos are currently in first place thanks to Dwan. Batavia is in second now, followed by Hartford, Pittsburgh and Philly to round off the top five. On the other end of the spectrum Montreal checks in with zero 'prospect points' while Dallas has just two. The Exports though have the best record in the league, and Dallas has stockpiled more than a few picks coming up, so we'll let them slide for now.
4. Can California continue the streak of 13 straight playoff appearances? We think so because this year they are specializing in pitching and defense, and everyone knows those are the secrets to winning a title. The Kodiaks are first in runs allowed, hits allowed, opponents average, and their +21.38 ZR is tops in the league. Unfortunately for them they are 11th in runs scored and at 37-35 are third in the Bock. Hitting comes and goes though, and sooner or later this team will find their stroke and extend that playoff streak.
5. What's on tap? In the Domestic we get the match-up of the week as Montreal travels to Toronto. The Exports have taken four of six against the Canadians so far this season, and as we discussed lead them by 2.5 games in the Lager. Montreal has the best bullpen in the DL, and is second in AVG, OBP and fourth in runs scored. Toronto though is raking it, as they are first in hits and runs scored but struggle on the pitching side of things. In the Import we get the first place Dinos staying at home to take on the second place Blues. LAD has a 1.5 game lead over Windy City and they are tied 3-3 in their season match-ups to date. Streak wise no team has won or lost more than four in a row.
