With most teams playing seven it was the Maine Guides who take over the top spot with a 5-2 week. They were also joined by Montreal, Syracuse, New York, and New Orleans who all also went 5-2. The winner winner chicken dinner of last week though was the Denver Bulls. By going 6-1 they are now a game over .500 at 24-23 and in third place in the Bock. They are struggling pitching wise, especially in the bullpen, but they are second or third in almost every offensive category in the Import. On the other side of things Indy and Philly went 1-6. Both are at the bottom of their respective divisions and their playoff probability percentage doesn't look too great. It's only May though, so there is time.

Performance of the Week
P Bradley Beehn - The 33 year old shows no signs of slowing down as he mowed down Pawtucket on May 22nd to turn in the #4 pitching performance of the season. Over eight innings he allowed only one hit, no runs, struck out 10, and walked none in a 1-0 Dallas victory. He was replaced in the bottom of the 9th by Colten Efird who got two outs, but also gave up two singles. On the third single of the inning though Pawtucket's Lenny Przybylski tried to go from second to home to tie the game...and was promptly gunned down at the plate by center fielder Cody West. The 25 year old has one of the best arms in the game and showed it off once again.
Prospect of the Week
P Jeremy Thrasher - Phoenix loves to get the K and Thrasher is another prospect in the organization who can throw it by people. The 20 year old was the 10th overall pick of the 2045 draft, can hit 101 on the gun, and throws five pitches, including a devastating forkball. In AA so far this year he's 1-4, but he has 45 K's in 36.1 innings. He's still quite wild as he's also walked 18 batters, but if he keeps improving on his control he will be someone to keep an eye on.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. There have been 3,419 pitchers in the history of the BLB that have posted at least one win. Of those 382 have won 100 games, 132 pitchers have won 150 games, and only 34 pitchers have ever won 200. Why do we bring that up? After 674 BLB games, all starts, future first ballot HOFer, Pat Arballo, picked up his 300th win this week. A feat that many BLB GMs likely thought was unattainable. Although he only won 20 games once, he picked up at least ten wins 18 times and at least 15 wins ten times. A model of consistency for the five teams he played for.
2. Another unbelievable milestone was also reached this week. In 70 seasons of play the 1,500 RBI mark has only been attained by 19 players, with JD 'Hurricane' Rice joining the exclusive club on May 20th against Pawtucket. Hard to believe that Rice was the 12th overall pick in the 2029 draft. The Baltimore legend has led the league in home runs, total bases, and of course, RBI, an astounding six times each! He has gone over 100 RBI nine times including a stretch of seven years in a row from 2036-2043, with the high water mark being 144 in 2043.
3. With the draft well underway, two BLB feeder leagues have wrapped up their seasons this week. In the CCBL final, the Falmouth Commodores swept the Hyannis Harbour Hawks 2-0. Reliever, Chevy Cantoni, was the series MVP. In high school, Seton Hall Prep defeated Bishop Gorman 2-1 with Seton Hall left fielder Ross Wells taking home the series MVP. NCAA action will wrap up this week, as Long Beach State currently leads Clemson 1-0 after a hard fought 5-4 win in the first game of the series.
4. Wilmington hasn't been to the playoffs since 2043 but they are currently 26-19 and in second place in the Ale. Josiah Foust coming back has been a big reason they are successful, but how about center fielder Jakob Lopez. He's making a little over $10m with one more year of arbitration left, and he's sure making a case to get paid even more. He currently leads the team with 15 HRs and 13 SBs and is on pace to reach the 40/40 club. He's also put up a positive ZR in 43 games in center while getting five assists and committing no errors. Originally an IAFA from Honduras he was signed by California and helped lead them to the 2043 title in his rookie season. During that postseason run he hit 5 HRs and drove in 14 RBI, and after finished third in the IL New Brew.
5. What's on tap? California has finally gotten over the .500 mark as they currently sit at 23-22...and in second place in the Bock. This week though they have a short road trip to play first place LAD for three, then head back home to take on second place New York for four. After taking three of four from rival Washington last week let's see if the train keeps rolling. We also get some fun match-ups in the Lager as first place Montreal travels to third place New Orleans, and fourth place Dallas flies southeast to take on fifth place Santo Domingo. All four of those teams have winning records, and throw in Toronto who is 24-21, and we have quite a party. Streak wise no team has won or lost more than four in a row. Individual accomplishments have Toronto's Dane Jennings with a 19 game hitting streak, while also scoring in eight straight games.
