Wilmington and New York paced the week by going 5-1, while Pawtucket, Phoenix, and Maine all went 5-2. At the bottom of the ledger, Baltimore went 1-6, while Hartford, Toronto, and Seattle all went 1-5. Baltimore pitchers gave up an astounding 17 home runs, while Hartford, Pittsburgh, and Indianapolis only gave up two each. The Bulldogs did swipe nine bases, tied for first among team, but they were also thrown out an amazing eight times which was most in the league.

Performance of the Week
LF Erick Timmons - The 26 year old for the Red Jackets put a beating on LAD this past week. On May 2nd he racked up three home runs, drove in four, and scored three times in a 6-2 Batavia victory. The former second round pick was last seasons Designated Driver at DH and has picked up where he left off. This season he's hitting .333/.390/.627 with 5 HR's and 9 RBI in 22 games.
Prospect of the Week
P Jannero Peter - At only 20 years old Peter shows pretty good development for such a young prospect. Drafted by Baltimore in the 7th round of the 2045 draft he's now the 98th overall prospect in the league. The 6'3 Canadian throws four pitches, including a devastating fastball, and can hit 101 mph on the gun. If he develops his curve and change-up he could be a real steal down the road.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Everyone always dreams of their first at bat in the big leagues. This week the BLB had a couple of notable first round selections make their debut. Tommy Dabbs, drafted 21st overall by Washington in 2041, was called up this week by Carolina. He had a solid first week, collecting four hits, including a double and his first major league home run. Not to be outdone, Jaumar Maldonado, drafted 14th overall in 2043 by Pawtucket, did even better. His first week of BLB action saw him hit a robust .438 with 2 home runs and 7 RBI.
2. What is wrong in California these days? It has been a wild ride for California fans the last 13 years. The longest playoff run in the BLB, two Brew titles, and the #1 team in the league in two of the last three years. This year however they are basement dwellers in a very tough Bock division. We think it's a small sample size as the the Kodiaks have an unhealthily low BABIP of .191, while the league average hovers just over .300. Another week or two like this though may be all the impedance their GM needs to tear it down and start a full rebuild.
3. The winners of the off-season were definitely the Maine Guides. A spending spree over the course of a few days in December brought Guides fans Kenyon Garcia, Louie Dano Dasmarinas, Nicholas Hubscher, and Jolice Bazaldua. How has that worked out? Clearly quite well as the Guides are currently the #2 team in the power rankings and leading their division. Even with that, they made another power move this week by trading for New Orleans' ace Nathan McKelvey. Now that Maine appears to be all in, you have to think that even more moves may be on the horizon.
4. It's nice to see Josiah Foust healthy and running the bases again this year. After a gruesome injury last year force him to missed most of 2047, he is back as the engine that makes the Clowns go. He reached a major milestone this week by notching his 500th hit. Not a lofty total, but to do it in only 374 games is rather spectacular. Wilmington is hoping that with his .320/.360/.417 slash line he can stay healthy and lead them to a long playoff run.
5. In the feel good story of the week, Jeylani Salcedo made his first official major league at bat with the Hartford Whalers. Originally signed out of Columbia by the Baltimore Bulldogs, it has been a long road for the one time prospect. Unfortunately he succumbed to injuries early and often in his pro career. After bouncing around the Bulldogs minor league system for years, he worked his way to the Whalers where he again floundered in the minor leagues. His hard work finally paid off, and in front of 75 friends and family he got to have the first bat of his career.
