It's coming up all Bats lately as Washington leads the Power Rankings and is the first team to clinch a division this season. They went a paltry 4-2 (by Bat standards) but that was enough to maintain the top spot. The best week though belonged to Phoenix who went 6-1 and all but locked up a playoff spot. Then we had Indy, Syracuse, Montreal, Wilmington and New Orleans who all went 5-2. On the flip side Hartford went 0-7 and really slammed the door on anyone catching them for the first pick in next years draft.

Performance of the Week
1B Jayson Buenaventura - On September 15th against Toronto he turned in the 3rd best hitting performance of the season in a 15-1 Clowns victory. In five at bats he racked up four hits, two home runs, drove in eight, and scored three times. It was one of the few bright spots though for Jayson's season as he's hitting .223 with 15 HR's and 39 RBI's, all the lowest totals of his career.
Prospect of the Week
P Reilan DeMoss - Drafted 13th overall this year by New York, DeMoss hasn't thrown a pitch yet after needing surgery while playing for Oregon State. Coaches love his work ethic though and doctors are optimistic he will be ready to go next season. At only 20 years old scouts love his potential as he can throw four pitches and hit the mid-90's with ease on the gun.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. A record that appeared like it may never be broken will fall this post season. With California clinching the playoffs this will be Jimmy Jeffs 17th postseason, breaking the record of 16 he shared with Washington legend Jammy Urmson. Originally drafted 7th overall by Seattle, Jeffs will have missed the playoffs only three times in 20 years. The 41 year old has found a career renaissance with the Kodiaks as he is once again batting leadoff and hitting well over .300. He also continues to climb his way up the all-time hits list as he now sits at 3,179.
2. Jeffs reached another milestone this week. The BLB has had 7,421 players lace up their spikes in the league's long history. However only 20 have reached the lofty milestone of 1,000 career extra base hits. With Carolina ace Eb Bytheway on the mound, Jimmy Jeffs strode to the place with a shot at history. On a 2-0 count he drilled a 379 foot home run to straightaway right field to reach the milestone. The game had to be stopped as both teams and the 44,104 fans in attendance spent several minutes cheering on one of the BLB's all-time greats
3. Congrats to Colby 'Mirror' Hullinger who made the 40/40 club for the second time in his career. 'Mirror' currently has 40 HR's and 47 SB's. The list for the inclusive club is Colby Hullinger, Ryan Hubbard, and Colby Hullinger. There are a few others with a chance to join though this season. Seattle's Tavin King has 36 HR's and 41 SB's, while Drillers' Stuart Beale has 38 HR's and 51 SB's.
4. In the Domestic, Wilmington went 5-2 but it was too little too late as their playoff odds sit at 1%. The six playoff teams are set but the division races are now even closer, as Pawtucket leads Syracuse by 2.5 games and New Orleans leads Dallas by 1.5 games. In the Import the Bulldogs continue to not want to make the playoffs as they try to half-heartily fight off Seattle, Batavia and New York. The Pilots are now only half a game out of the wildcard with their unheard of -8 in the PYT. Batavia meanwhile is 1.5 out, while New York and their -9 PYT is 2.5 out. Baltimore could have put this thing to bed a month ago but they went 10-19 in August and are now 6-8 in September.
5. What's on tap? The Dinos have the week from heck as they start with three games in California, then fly across the country to Washington for three more. LAD only trails California by four games in the Bock, so if they take the series things might get interesting. In the Domestic the Snappers have the rough week, but at least they are at home. First Pittsburgh then Dallas comes to town. As mentioned both Dallas and Syracuse have legitimate shots to win the division, but this series could determine a lot towards deciding who has the best chance.
