Pawtucket continues to roll with another 5-1 week as the Patriots had won 10 in a row before losing to Denver yesterday. They have now built a five game lead in the Ale and could easily run away with the division in the next month. Joining them was Dallas and Los Angeles who each also went 5-1. Both the Drillers and Dinos are six games out of first in their respective divisions, as they trail the best teams in the BLB in New Orleans and California. On the other side of things Seattle and Hartford both went 0-6 while New York and Wilmington went 1-5. The poor Whalers have lost 14 in a row and reports are that the clubhouse is quickly falling apart.

Performance of the Week
P Cole Socia - The 27 year old former second round pick is having a breakout year, and on June 14th he turned in the #1 performance of the season to go with it. Against Hartford he allowed no runs, four hits, one walk, and struck out 14 in a 5-0 Dinos victory. On the season he's now 7-2 with a 2.53 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 158 ERA+.
Prospect of the Week
C Cato Flaig - The #1 overall pick of the 2047 draft by Hartford lands at 15th on the Top Prospect list. The 4x HS All-Star hit .348/.478/.681 with 55 HR's and 191 RBI's in 160 HS games. At only 17 years old he has a lot of developing to do, but he could be one of the best in the game down the road.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Congrats to Windy City outfielder Alex Lezama who recorded his 2000th career hit on June 15th against Dallas. The 35 year old was drafted 19th overall by Philadelphia in 2029 but traded a month later to Hartford. He was then traded to California in 2031 for Tony Solorio. Lezama played for the Kodiaks from 2035 to 2042 and helped them win the 2036 Brewmasters. He then went to New Orleans and won another title in 2045. Over his career he's been a 2x All-Star, 2x Designated Driver, and 4x DWI winner.
2. After the draft the Batavia Red Jackets are still #1 in the Annual Top Systems report, coming in with 252 points. Maine has moved into second with 203, while Los Angeles is third at 171. The Red Jackets have 12 players in the Top 100, with only one of them currently playing in the BLB. They are also 33-31 and third in the Stout, after last year finishing with 91 wins and going back to the playoffs for the first time since 2040. Batavia is back baby.
3. With the draft being over we've all seen reports about the 'winners and losers' and rankings, but when will really know? So far only one player drafted since 2045 has played in the BLB, Indy's Max Klein, who was the second overall pick of the 2045 draft. From 2044 only Johnathon 'El' Dorado of the Dinos is making a difference. Only time will tell and someday it might even rival the 2022 draft...a draft that featured Johnny Swope, Pat Arballo, Robby Brooksher, Dave Davis, Ron Snider, Dave Tibbs, and Manabu Hamada all just in the first round. Of course it also featured pick 1.22 pitcher Ted White by Davenport. White played from 2025 to 2033, never had a winning season, and finished his career with a -2.3 WAR.
4. Wilmington is bringing in the fans this season, as they are filling up on average to almost 98% occupancy for home games, best in the league. Meanwhile Windy City is dead last at barely over 50%. Last season it was Washington who won the attendance contest as almost 3.5 million fans came to watch the Bats. This season California is first, and Washington is sixth...but the Kodiaks have played seven more home games to date. We're not math majors but we're pretty sure those numbers will even out by the end of the season. Another fun fact...the defending champion Bats earned $18.5 million last season in playoff revenue for their championship run. They then had to give $13.77 million back for revenue sharing.
5. What's on tap? We get a battle of division leaders and the teams chasing them this week. In the Domestic we have Syracuse traveling to Pawtucket for three games. The Snappers trail the Patriots by five games in the Ale, and are now 11-3 in June. They went from possibly trading away their star players last month, to acquiring players and a hopeful playoff run. In the Import the Red Jackets head to Washington for their series. Batavia trails Washington by only three games (with Baltimore between them), but are 9-5 in June. They don't have a single player on the 'Who's Hot' list, are still 33-31, and did win the division last season. Streak wise the Whalers have lost 14 in a row, Seattle has lost six straight, Pawtucket's Charlie Guevin is up to 50 games without a blown save, and Tyson Velez (SYR) and Jakob Lopez (WIL) have 13 game hitting streaks going.
