Pawtucket takes the cake this past week by going 6-1 which included a four game sweep of the Canadians. In that series they outscored Toronto 24-13 and appear to have their offense back on track. Other top weeks were New Orleans who went 5-1, and Batavia, LAD, and Baltimore who all went 5-2. On the flip side Denver and Windy City went 1-6 and are struggling to keep up in the Bock.

Performance of the Week
CF Dom Fuentes - The 25 year old turned in the 6th best hitting performance of the season on May 10th against Pawtucket. Unfortunately Pawtucket had two players crack the Top 25 in hitting performances as well and the Canadians fell 12-9 to the Patriots. Fuentes though did his part though with four hits, two home runs, and five RBI's. The IAFA was signed by Denver back in 2039 but traded to Denver in the Rory Elia deal. He spent most of his time in the minors before being claimed by Toronto last week. In seven games so far with them he's hit .321 with 4 HR's, 7 RBI's, and a stolen base.
Prospect of the Week
P Isaac King - The 23 year old pitcher was sent to Pittsburgh from Seattle in the LDD trade in 2042 and has slowly grown into 38th overall prospect in the league. Currently in AA he's 2-0 with a 0.65 ERA and 0.83 WHIP in five starts, and should be heading off to AAA soon. He has a devastating slider, decent sinker, and is working on a curveball. At only 6' and 165 lbs he won't overpower anyone in the league but scouts think he can be a solid starter down the road.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. We tip our cap to Dallas starter Pat Arballo who set the BLB all-time record for career wins on May 9th against Wilmington. Over seven innings he allowed four runs off of eight hits, but the Dallas offense was able to score seven runs and give Arballo win number 287. The soon to be 42 year old was the 3rd overall pick by Death Valley back in 2022, is a 5x All-Star, 3x Pale Ale recipient, and helped Washington win the 2032 Brewmasters Cup.
2. California is on pace for 121 wins, which would tie the 1992 Virginia Colonials for most ever. Second most ever...the 1991 Virginia Colonials with 119. For the non-juiced teams though the record is 114, shared by Pawtucket (2016), Maine (1986), Pittsburgh (1985), and Death Valley (2027). The average wins predicted for the Kodiaks though is 106.8, the highest in the league, so we think the tainted record is safe for now. Also do the Kodiaks really need to win 121 games? They are all but locks for their 13th straight trip to the playoffs and have won two championships since 2036.
3. The next batch of BLB greats is deep in the heart of playoff time. At the High School level only four teams remain, Jefferson City (MO), Basic (NV), Bishop Gormon (NV) and Hoover (AL). In the CCBL we're down to the final four as only Wareham, Cotuit, Yarmouth, and Falmouth remain. Wareham posted the best record in the league and won last years Cape Cup. Finally in the NCAA we're down to the Regionals as only eight teams are left. Top seeded Texas A&M still remains, as well as last years champion the USC Trojans.
4. LAD's John Phelps tossed his third complete game of the season this past week...in six starts. In Phelps previous seasons in the BLB, the minors, and at Pacific University he started 130 games and never once had a complete game. He's only averaging 96 pitches a game too, 10 less than Toronto's Westley Whitham who's in second with two complete games. Whitham though is known for having the stamina to start and finish, as he's finished first the last two seasons in that category.
5. What's on tap? Well for one we're back to interleague so we get to see some great matchups including Batavia at New Orleans, Wilmington at New York, and Washington at Pawtucket. Streak wise we have the Patriots as winners of five and Windy City as losers of six. We also have Pawtucket closer Charlie Guevin who hasn't blown a save in 40 chances, and Drillers 3B Wyatt Meeks who has a 21 game hitting streak going.
