And we're off for the race to the 2047 Brewmasters Cup! Coming out hot are none other than the New York Knights. After last season's postseason run was derailed in the wildcard round due to injuries, the Knights pummeled Carolina and Phoenix to go 7-0. Last season they were all offense and not much pitching...watch out if they fix the later half this season. The OSA Preseason Predictions have them winning the Stout and we see why. Other nice weeks were had by New Orleans who went 6-1, and California and Wilmington who went 5-1.

Performance of the Week
1B Rolando Pridgen - The 28 year old was a 1st round pick by the Patriots in 2039 and has bounced between the BLB and AAA for the last few seasons. He must have figured out something this off-season though as on April 9th against Syracuse he racked up three hits, two home runs, drove in five, and scored four times in a 10-6 victory. If he turns into an All-Star the hard to beat Patriots are going to be just that much tougher.
Prospect of the Week
3B Garry Castonguay - We love the underdog and Garry comes into the season as #100 on the Top Prospects league. Drafted in the 4th round of the 2042 draft by Baltimore he has power and contact potential that if met could make him a legitimate hitter in the BLB down the road. Last season in A ball he hit .308 with 8 HR's and 46 RBI's and starting this year he's been moved up to AA already. Go Garry Go!
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Dallas stole 11 bases this past week, with six of them by first basemen Stuart Beale, one of the fastest players in the league. Last year he stole 42 bases while hitting .278, and this past week he got six while hitting .208. We think he could hit .300 and if Dallas keeps giving him the green light he could break Richie 'Powder' van Luik's record of 92 set in 2039.
2. We had a big week for the history books as several milestones were hit by players around the league. First on opening day, Dawson Davis hit his 400th career home run. Then on April 10th Louie Dano Dasmarinas smacked three home runs in a game, which gave him 300 for his career. Then two days later Elmer 'Bane' Caceres recorded his 2000th hit. Finally two days after that Grant Hockensmith launched his 300th career home run. Congrats to all!
3. New Orleans suffered from the title hangover last season and managed to win just 85 games before getting bounced in the DS by Montreal. This season they start out 6-1 thanks to the best starting pitching staff in the league. Nathan 'Missing Link' McKelvey, Martin Hoffman, and Erik Foley are ranked as three of the top five pitchers in the league and this past week they showed why. Five starts between them on the week equaled out to four wins, no losses, 40 K's, 8 walks, and just five runs allowed. Thank goodness Seth 'Icebox' Cobb is in Wilmington now or it just wouldn't be fair.
4. Batavia started out the season 1-5 after last years surprise 91 win campaign and trip back to the playoffs. We say surprise because we thought this team would dominate the decade of the '50's, not go to the playoffs in 2046 and then dominate the last part of the '40s and '50's. They still have the #1 ranked system which they've had so long now that no one remembers who was first before they took over.
5. What's on tap? How about two big things...interleague and all the minor leagues begin. This season AAA, AA, A, and RL will all play 120 game schedules, for the first time in BLB history. As far as interleague the schedule makers don't mess around as it's only week two. Some of the match-ups we'll be tuning into: California at Dallas, Seattle at Santo Domingo, and New York at Pawtucket.
