  • The 2046 Daily Keg - Week 23

    09/17/2046

You get a winning week, you get a winning week, you get a winning week! The BLB was giving out winning weeks to many as Pawtucket, Maine, Santo Domingo, New York, and New Orleans all went 5-2. Alas it also gave out some not so winning weeks as Hartford went 1-6 while Pittsburgh, Denver, and Toronto all went 2-5.

    Performance of the Week

LF Collin 'Prince' Maloney - Not one player cracked the Top Performances of the season this past week, but 'Prince' did go cycling on September 15th against Windy City. The 3rd round pick of the 2038 draft doubled in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, hit a two-run triple in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Tucker Lopez in the 9th. On the season he's hitting .286/.330/.453 with 10 HR's, 39 RBI's, and 18 stolen bases.

    Prospect of the Week

LF John McIntyre - The 21 year old was a second round pick by California in 2043 and traded a month later to Philadelphia for Omar Jones. He's worked his way up to the 66th overall prospect in the league and last season won the Platinum Stick at left field in the Rookie League. This year in 80 games in AA he's hitting .327/.403/.566 with 11 HR's and 41 RBI's. He's estimated to make his BLB debut in 2047.

Five Things We Think We Think

    1. The Domestic wildcard race continues to shift as now Pittsburgh, Wilmington, and Maine are on the outside looking in. The Millers and Clowns are two games back while the Guides are three and a half games back. When nine of the twelve teams in the DL have winning records the playoff race tends to get a bit crowded. In the Import the Freedom sit two and a half back from the final spot with Windy City, Phoenix and Baltimore trailing behind them.

    2. The AAA, AA, and A playoffs are now one game deep into the Divisional Series, while the Rookie League is down to the LCS. In the Porter the Boise Bluegills (WC) and the Omaha Blackbirds (Was) are tied at one, while in the Pilsner the Norfolk Captains (Wil) have already punched their ticket to the Rookie Cup after taking down the Albany Chiefs (Paw). Norfolk last won in 2040 when they swept the Bluegills.

    3. Christian Vines is still on pace to break his own strikeout record as he's projected to reach 341 K's on the year. He's also first in the Domestic in ERA, K's, and tied for the lead in wins with 14. Pawtuckets Aubrey 'Gypsy' Albano continues to lead the league with a .368 average but has fallen off the pace to break the season record for hits. Jaime 'Toro' Rush got 251 hits in 2028 for Wilmington, and Albano is on pace for 247.

    4. Pawtucket and California continue to be the odds on favorite to meet in the 2046 Brewmasters Cup. The Kodiak's run differential of +159 is tops in the league, while the Patriots come in second at +156. Who is in third place...how about Dallas back at +94. On the other side of life Hartford checks in last at -221. When it comes to defense LAD comes in first with a +48.01 ZR, while California is second at +42.87 and Pawtucket is third at +25.71.

    5. What's on tap for this week? How about New Orleans at Dallas, LAD at Seattle, and Syracuse and Pittsburgh. Throw in a four game series between New Orleans and Syracuse to end the week and the wildcard standings are sure to keep on shuffling. The Exports have a four game win streak, the longest in the BLB, while California's Kaleb Clinkingbeard has a 15 game hitting streak going. The 2045 Import New Brew is hitting .266, which is higher than last years .260, but he smashed 30 HR's last year and is only projected to reach 20 this season.

John McIntyre was tough to give up... But, we got a title with Jones, so I guess we'll live with it... Damn, he looks good!

      Nice read, as always, Matt!
