Those Kodiaks come roaring back with a 6-1 week, take over the top spot in the PR, have the best record in the league, and have the largest division lead. Sounds like their September is off to a hot start. Other top weeks were had by Dallas who went 5-1, and Maine, Baltimore, Windy City, and Pittsburgh who went 5-2. Meanwhile poor Hartford went 0-6 while SDR, Phoenix, Denver and Washington all went 2-5.

Performance of the Week
P Roy Winans - A rare highlight of sort for the Tobs as Winans went eight innings, allowed no runs and struck out 10 on September 2nd against Windy City. The 26 year old is 8-13 with a 3.68 ERA and 1.20 WHIP on the season. He was a 3rd round pick by Carolina back in 2038 and posted a 15-7 record last season with a 3.20 ERA.
Prospect of the Week
SS Devon Keen - The former 1.1 by Batavia back in 2044 has moved his way up to AA and seems to be coming into his own. This year he's hitting .258/.361/.464 with 8 HR's and 36 RBI's while playing 63 games at short stop. He has good speed and the ability to play almost any infield position and scouts love his work ethic.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Pawtucket ended up winning August with an 18-11 record. They allowed 128 runs, which was 13th in the league, but they scored 156 runs which was tops in the BLB. Probably thanks to All-Star outfielder Montay Kim who won the POTW on August 27th then won the POTM for August. The 27 year old is the captain of the team and is on pace for a 4.5 WAR season. In other team news California went 18-12 and Montreal went 17-11 to round off the top three. On the flip side Carolina went 7-21, Hartford went 8-21, and Denver and Wilmington went 11-17.
2. We had another brawl this past week between two of the best players in the league. In the 4th inning of the Dallas-New Orleans game things got a little wild. All-Star Erik Foley was on the mound and gave up an opening inning home run to Reid Cole. The next batter happened to be Robert Jessee who got beaned by the eighth pitch of his at bat, but still took exception and charged the mound. The 9x All-Star Jessee got the best of the 8x All-Star Foley and both benches emptied. In the end Foley got six games while Jessee got five games.
3. Pittsburgh and Dallas moved into a tie for the second Domestic wildcard spot as Wilmington, New Orleans, and Maine are now on the outside looking in. The Clowns are only a half game back though while New Orleans is one game back. In the Import the Dinos now have a 2.5 game lead over Phoenix and Philly for the final wildcard spot, while Windy City is only three games back. Thirteen teams for eight spots...should be a good time.
4. Aubrey Albana is on pace for 250 hits this year, which would be one off the record that California's Joe Lopez set in 1995. The other record that has a great chance of being broken is the strikeout record of 333 set in 2044 by Christian Vines. Who could break it? Well none other than Christian Vines. Not only is he back in the Triple Crown lead, but he's on pace for 349 strikeouts. There is a few reasons that Syracuse is +11 since July 1st and Vines is the biggest of them.
5. We are back to interleague as the final match-up of the season between the Import and the Domestic before the Cup takes place. There's a few fun series this week with the biggest California at Dallas in a potential Brewmasters Cup preview. The Kodiaks have the best record in the league while Dallas has won five in a row and is pressing Montreal for the Lager title. California is first or second in nearly every Import pitching category, while they are second or third in most of the batting stats. Dallas meanwhile has the top offense in the Domestic but their pitching is seventh or eighth. Derek Bell has struggled in his scenery change but got things back on track in his last start at Hartford. Once he gets comfortable the Drillers might be the team to beat.
