    Performance of the Week

LF Rory Elia - The 32 year old has been on an absolute tear for the Kodiaks and won the Import POTW this past week. His August 9th performance against Maine was a big reason why after he had three hits, two home runs, six RBI's and scored three times in a 17-0 drubbing of the Guides. On the season he's now hitting .302/.378/.595 with 27 HR's and 67 RBI's.

    Prospect of the Week

1B Dalton Hamilton - Drafted in the second round of the 2043 draft by New York, the lefty Hamilton is now the 66th overall prospect in the league. He's spent this season in A ball where he's hit .244 with 10 HR's and 38 RBI's while playing 98 games at first base. Coaches love his team-first attitude and rave about his work ethic. At only 20 years old he could be playing in New York in just a few years.

Five Things We Think We Think

    1. We had a big day in BLB history on August 10th when 9x All-Star Jimmy Jeffs reached his 3000th hit and 7x All-Star Marco Taylor got his 2000th hit. Jeffs is now 14th all-time and should reach 12th before the season is over. At 40 years old he's still hitting an amazing .321 to go along with 20 HRs and 52 RBI's. Taylor is a young 33 and is hitting .313 with 23 HR's and 78 RBI's this season. He's 30th all-time in career home runs while helping lead Seattle to second in the Bock. Both of these guys will be first ballot Hall of Fame selections down the road.

    2. With all the news lately around Derek Bell and Seth 'Icebox' Cobb getting traded it's nice to know that Christian Vines is still around. On August 8th against LAD he struck out 15 Dinos, giving him nine 15 or more strikeout games since 2043. On the year he's 11-3 with a 1.89 ERA and 0.95 WHIP.

    3. The Drillers fired bench coach Bill Ayotte this week and hired Gil Green to take his place. Ayotte was the assistant GM for Montreal when they won the 2044 Brewmasters Cup. He then got signed by Dallas but after the Drillers were under performing at 54-54 he was let go. Green meanwhile was the manager of Seattle before being fired a few weeks ago when the Pilots were under performing at 47-47. He led Seattle to the playoffs in 2045 while leading New Orleans to the playoffs in 2043 and 2044.

    4. Kevin Alston announced this week that he was hanging it up at the end of the season. The 39 year old signed a contract with Pawtucket before the season but spent most of the year in AAA. Recently he was called back up and pitched August 7th against Denver and August 10th against Batavia. In his career he was a 4x All-Star and won three Brewmasters Cups, one each with Maine, California, and Washington. His 205 wins place him 28th all-time and since he debuted in 2029 he's earned $188,440,000 over his career.

    5. We get two great match-ups this week as first place Batavia travels to first place California, and first place Montreal travels to first place Pawtucket. The Kodiaks are 5-2 this season against the Red Jackets, while the Exports are 5-2 against the Patriots.

    That's a cool SOTD!

Jimmy Jeffs seems to be taking quite nicely to the DH role in his later years... Something Mr. Morla never quite seemed to be able to do!

    Great read Matt!

Shocked to see that that many pitchers have 205, or more wins... That's a pile of wins... Yikes!
