  • The 2046 Daily Keg - Week 17

    08/06/2046

Batavia is back baby...on top of the Power Rankings that is. After a 4-3 week that ties them with California for the second best record in the league the Red Jackets take the crown...for now. The best week though was had by Phoenix who traded their best player away in Derek Bell, then went 6-1 to get back above .500. On the other side of the chart we had Dallas, Carolina and LAD who all went 1-6.

    Performance of the Week

P Cade Hogan - The Roadrunners shot up to #6 on the prospect list but they broke up the potential Brew winning combo of Bell and Cade Hogan. For now Hogan will have to carry the load by himself and so far he's done just that. On August 4th against Carolina he turned in the second best performance of the season when he went 8.1 innings, allowed no runs, three hits, and struck out 15 in a 9-0 victory. On the season he's now 7-10 with a 4.05 ERA and 1.18 WHIP. It's now or never Cade.

    Prospect of the Week

P Dwan Tamarovsky - The 20 year old from Lithuania was signed by Philly in 2042 but traded to LAD in 2044. He's now the #10 prospect in the league and looks to be a top starter in the future. He throws three great pitches, has top flight stamina, and can hit 96 mph on the gun. His only issue is coaches and scouts alike aren't a big fan of his work ethic and wonder if he will ever reach his potential. For now though he's 6-2 with a 2.58 ERA in 15 Rookie League starts.

Five Things We Think We Think

1.We had quite a brawl on August 4th in the California - New York game. In the top of the 4th the Knights slugger JD 'Hurricane' Rice hit a two-run home run off of Joseph Tinsley. He then threw the next two pitches inside at Melchior Werth before beaning him with the third pitch. It's not often you get two All-Stars brawling but that is exactly what we saw. The 6'3, 200 lb Tinsley got the best of the 5'10 Werth and teammates from both sides joined the pile. In the end both were ejected and the office of the commish gave Tinsley eight games and Werth four games.

    2. Who won the month of July...how about those Denver Bulls! They went 17-9 but still ended up 5th in the Brutal Bock. They are currently 51-57 but still have an outside shot at the playoffs. All they need is another 17-9 month. Other successful months were California (16-8), Indianapolis (16-7), and Syracuse (15-8). Some team leaders: California hit 41 HR's (Toronto 17), Seattle stole 51 bases (Windy City 3), Dallas scored 158 runs (Toronto 78), California allowed 81 runs (Seattle 141), and Phoenix struck out 243 batters (Hartford 146).

    3. The only division that appears to be locked up is the Bock as California has a 10 game lead and their division winning odds are 100%. We're not the smartest but 100% seems like a good lock to us. The wildcards though are still as wild as ever as only five teams sit at 0% for a playoff appearance.

    4. We're back to interleague again for the final match-up between the Import and Domestic until the 2046 Brewmasters takes place. The series we are looking forward to the most is Pawtucket at Batavia as the best record in the Domestic (and league) goes against the top team in the Import. Some other good series are Phoenix at Dallas (who ends up above .500?) and New Orleans at Washington (2045 Brewmasters rematch).

    5. Congrats to the 2046 BLB Hall of Fame inductees: Jaime 'Toro' Rush, Alpha McCormick, R.J. Kapper, and C.J. Stripling. The Hall welcomes them with open arms to live in BLB history forever.

Based on the SOTD and the HOF voting, I'd say RJ Kapper was a pretty good player!
