  • The 2046 Daily Keg - Week 15

    07/23/2046

Santo Domingo sweeps the defending champion Voodoo and move into the #1 spot in the PR. The Rum Runners are now 52-42 and only 2.5 games back from Montreal in the Lager. After being .500 through the end of May they are now 27-17 in June and July. Other sweeps in the short All-Star week were had by Indianapolis, Dallas and Syracuse. Some team leaders: Dallas had 43 hits and scored 25 runs, Washington hit eight bombs, Dallas swiped eight bases, Syracuse allowed only three runs as opponents hit .151, and Wilmington K'd 35 batters.

    Performance of the Week

P Taelin Leanos - Just acquired from Hartford the 31 year old tossed his first complete game since 2044 in a 4-0 shutout of Carolina on July 17th. Over the course of the game he struck out seven, walked none and allowed only two hits. He's now 8-7 on the year with a 4.38 ERA but 1-0 in Philly, and that's all his new fans care about.

The prospect of the week is all the prospects that got selected to the Futures game held over All-Star weekend. This one was won by the Domestic in the bottom of the 10th in a wild one. After Mitch Marcinkowski of Maine hit a two-out double, Cory 'Boy Scout' Petit of New Orleans came in as a pinch runner. Isaac Merolla of Pawtucket struck out, but a passed ball allowed him to get to first while 'Boy Scout' moved to third. Two pitches later Jaden McAlpine of Batavia threw a wild pitch and Petit was able to slide under McAlpine's tag to score the winning run.

Five Things We Think We Think

    1. Congrats to all the BLB All-Stars that were voted on by the fans. All though the All-Star game wasn't played once again, with many believing that will be the new norm, these players will go down in history as being Brewers League Baseball 2046 All-Stars.

    2. One event that was held was the Home Run Derby that featured the best sluggers in the league. None other than Drillers star Robert 'Stretch' Jessee won it all after out-slugging Wilmington's Jayson Buenaventura in the final round. This is Jessee's ninth All-Star selection as he's hitting .340/.421/.630 with 25 HR's and 67 RBI's on the season. The soon to be 33 year old was the first overall pick back in 2031 by Toronto and is on pace for an 8.3 WAR year, which would be his best season ever. Talk about no signs of slowing down.

    3. The Dinos signed their All-Star centerfielder Brian Wallace to a five year extension yesterday for a cool $98,000,000. Wallace, 28, was the 10th overall pick in 2028 by LAD and debuted in 2040 when he played 40 games in center. He has become the captain of the clubhouse and is hitting .306/.357/.458 with 8 HR's and 38 RBI's while posting a +7.5 ZR in center over 88 games this year.

    4. The second half of the season is going to be wild as currently 20 out of the 24 teams show up on the playoff odds chart. In the Domestic only Hartford, Toronto, and Indy currently are at 0%, while in the Import it's lonely Baltimore. Considering Indy has won five in a row and are only 13 games behind the final wildcard spot, and Baltimore is only eight back...well anything can happen.

    5. We're back at it with some fun match-ups this week and these are a few of our favorite: Pawtucket at Santo Domingo, Montreal at Dallas, and Washington at New York. Get your popcorn ready, it's going to be a fun next few months.

We used 16 SPs in 2030... Who knew? And, upon further reading... 17 the next year!

We had the local radio station enticing fans to punch as many ballots as possible... Seems to have worked out!

    Great read again Matt!

Oh yeah... That Colonials team must have been really good.
