The Bulls lost their owner this past week as Ruben Chavez died after a prolonged illness. In honor of their late owner though they regrouped and put together a 5-1 week, tying them with Santo Domingo for the best in the league. The Bulls are now only two games back from the final wildcard spot in the Import. California, Phoenix, Pawtucket, Dallas, Indy, Montreal, and Pittsburgh also put together winning weeks as they all went 4-2. Windy City, Washington, and Wilmington brought up the caboose though as they all found themselves winning only one game. Apparently the letter that they start with wasn't their only W of the week.

Performance of the Week
P Erik Foley - With the recent trade of Seth 'Icebox' Cobb the question was who will step up...and it appears Foley took the call. On July 11th against Philly the 34 year old pitched a two-hit shutout with one walk and eight K's in a 5-0 Voodoo win. On the season he's now 10-5 with a 2.48 ERA and 1.09 WHIP.
Prospect of the Week
P Isaac Elliott - The rich get richer as California found Elliott in the 8th round of the 2042 draft and he's now the 76th overall prospect in the BLB. He throws three pitches, including a devastating changup, can hit 98 mph on the gun, and has the stamina to be a solid starter. The only downside is his work ethic has been called out by more than one coach. If he puts it all together though he will be a steal.

Five Things We Think We Think
1. The BLB is full of opportunities this season as it's hard to keep track of the teams hovering around .500. There's eight if you are curious. Also looking at the wildcard standings is pretty wild as well. In the Domestic, Pittsburgh and Dallas are currently tied for fourth with New Orleans and Maine just one and three games back, while in the Import it's a three-way as LAD, Phoenix, and Philly are tied for fourth with Windy City, Denver and Carolina knocking on the door. What a wild finish we could have.
2. Timmy Brown got shut out this week by New Orleans and ended his 28 game hit streak, the second longest this season behind Pawtucket's Aubrey 'Gypsy' Albano. The current leader is now Kodiak's outfielder James 'Wacky' Vandehey who is at 18 games. 'Wacky' was the 5th overall pick by Maine in 2037 but was traded to California this off-season. He's a 2x All-Star and won the 2043 Designated Driver in left field.
3. It's All-Star week and although the game won't be played due to COVID-41 concerns it will be simulated using OOTP45. We will get the Future Stars game though which will be played on July 16th at Capitol Field. This game will feature prospects from the Import against prospects from the Domestic in what could be a 2050 BLB All-Star game preview (if we have one).
4. Robert 'Stretch' Jessee and his league leading 187 OPS+ continue to impress as the 32 year old won his second Player of the Week award for the season. This past week he hit .500 with 3 HR's and 8 RBI's as Dallas finally got over .500 for the season. On the year he's hitting .343 with 24 HR's and 64 RBI's and will be going to his 9th BLB All-Star game this year. He was the first overall pick of the 2031 draft and signed a $100,000,000 contract with Dallas this off-season after Toronto let him walk.
5. Wilmington took care of their 1-2 punch for starters this week, first by acquiring Seth 'Icebox' Cobb, then by extended Aman Djorovic on July 13th with a 6 year/$129,600,000 contract. The Clowns just invested $283m into those two and the front office will expect nothing less than a Brewmasters Cup in the near future.
