When it's June and the Red Jackets are tied for the division lead it's like 2040 all over again! This week they went 6-1 to move their record to 35-23 and tie those pesky Bats for the Stout lead. Other nice weeks were had by California (5-1) and Montreal, Wilmington and Carolina (5-2). There were no teams this week with no or only one win, so hats off to everyone!

Performance of the Week
CF Tavin Kang - On June 10th against Batavia Kang turned in the 21st best hitting performance of the season when he hit two home runs, drove in three, scored three times, and walked three times. Alas it was all for naught as Batavia won 11-10 in a game that featured 38 hits and 10 pitchers. The 24 year old third year player is hitting .232 with 10 HR's and 33 RBI's while starting 51 games in centerfield.
Prospect of the Week
P Parker Lord - Drafted 42nd overall in 2041 by the Knights he's currently in AA and ranked 47th on the top prospect list. The 22 year old throws four pitches, can hit 98 mph on the gun, and scouts think he has room to grow. His only issue is that coaches are constantly after him to keep working and some wonder if he'll ever reach his true potential. This year in 10 starts he's 4-2 with a 3.41 ERA.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. It's done. Richie 'Powder' van Luik has tied Jerry Daly for career stolen bases at 677. He swiped five bases this week to tie it and will look to break it in the upcoming series at Pittsburgh. After starting out the season slow 'Powder' is now hitting .319/.385/.495 with 27 SB's. He turns 31 years old August 1st and could end up with 800+ by the time his career is over.
2. We have a .400 hitter...alert, alert, alert. Hitting has been down as of late but Aubrey 'Gypsy' Albano from Pawtucket, a scouting discovery out of the Philippines by the Miami Sharks, is currently batting .406. At only 25 years old scouts have him rated as one of, if not the best contact hitter in the league and it's showing. The 3x All-Star and 3x DWI winner is a fan favorite and has shot all the way up to #2 on the top hitters list as put out by the OSA.
3. Speaking of hitting the Domestic is currently hitting .264 while the Import is batting a pathetic .246. For the DL this is the highest average since 2042 and in the top half of all-time yearly averages. For the IL it's better than last years .238 average but still has a way to go. Maybe the Import can import a few batters from the Domestic to help them out.
4. Happy 57th birthday to Willie 'Hammerhand' Fajardo. Inducted into the BLB HoF in 2032 he finished his career with 166 wins, a 3.09 ERA and 2725 strikeouts. He was first overall pick of the 2010 draft by the Indianapolis Clowns and played from 2012 to 2027. He was only a 3x All-Star, but to let you know how things aren't always fair he finished 2022 with Baltimore by going 21-4 with a 2.01 ERA and didn't get selected to the All-Star game or win the Pale Ale. That honor went to Ed 'Dropkick' Carroll who was in the midst of winning six straight IL Pale Ale's.
5. We are back to interleague this week as the IL and DL do battle once again. Some match-ups we are excited for: New Orleans (31-28) at Batavia (35-23) and Wilmington (37-23) at Windy City (32-27). The Clowns, Blues and Voodoo are all in second place in their division while the previous mentioned Red Jackets are tied for first. Is Windy City for real? Can New Orleans shake the championship hangover and get things going? Are the Clowns going to win 100 games after winning 74 last season? Are the Red Jackets primed for a decade of excellence? So many questions, we hope a few of them get answered.
