Go Roadrunners Go. Two weeks ago left for dead after running full speed off a cliff, Phoenix has risen from the ashes with a 6-0 week and are now winners of nine straight. Still they are below .500 at 26-27 but as of now the fire sale flames have been doused. The other top weeks were New York who went 6-1 and Pawtucket who went 5-1. The Knights are only 2.5 games back in the Stout thanks to their hitting. They are 1st in IL home runs and 2nd in runs scored. If their pitching catches up they will be hard to deal with. On the other side of life Indy, Washington, and Montreal all went 1-5. Some weeks you are the dog, some weeks you are the fire hydrant.

Performance of the Week
P Jaylen Ridley - The 24 year old in only his second BLB year is playing lights out. On June 2nd against Toronto he threw a three-hit shutout with one walk and six strikeouts as the Patriots won 13-0. On the season he's 2-1 with a 1.59 ERA in nine starts. He was signed out of Aruba by Carolina, later released, signed by Seattle, released, and then signed with Pawtucket in 2043. One mans trash...
Prospect of the Week
RF Jim Morales - The 21 year old was the last pick of the second round in 2042 by the Bulls and currently checks in at #92 on the top prospects list. The power swinging lefty looks like he could be a dominant force in the future against RHP and hit .285/.449/.446 last season in A ball where he was named an All-Star and was selected to be in the Futures game. He is slow as they come, and struggles in the outfield, but scouts think he will be an above average everyday player.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Julian Irwin won IL Rookie of the Month after hitting .252 with 8 HR's 23 RBI's, and 21 runs scored in May. The former 8th round pick by Batavia is currently the 7th overall prospect in the league but has started for the Red Jackets since the season began. I mean come on...if Batavia's 8th round picks are hitting what chance does anyone else in the league have?
2. The winner of May was Pawtucket who went 20-8 and built a four game lead in the Ale. They allowed a league low 89 runs while hitting .277 and scoring 138 runs. Some other league leaders for the month of May: Phoenix hit 45 home runs, Dallas scored 159 runs, Maine swiped 56 bases, Washington only allowed 23 home runs, and Phoenix struck out 344 batters.
3. Big news this week as Rory Elia is being shipped from Carolina to California. The 32 year old was the 8th overall pick by Carolina back in 2031. He played there until being traded to Denver in 2039, then traded to Philly in 2041, then traded back to Carolina in 2045, and now off he goes to California. He's a 2x Stout Slugger, 9x All-Star, 4x DWI winner, 3x DD, and helped the Tobs win the 2037 Brewmasters. Not a bad resume for someone who apparently can't hold down a job.
4. Christian Vines is on pace for a 13.4 WAR season. He's now 6-1 with a 0.72 ERA in 11 starts. The guy is 28 years old and is also on pace for 394 strikeouts, which would shatter his record of 333 that he set two years ago. What he's doing has never been seen in the history of the BLB. The other record that is soon to fall is Jerry 'Juiced' Daly career steals record of 677. Our man Richie 'Powder' van Luik now has 672 and is closing in fast. We can hardly wait.
5. Parity has come to the BLB. With contract demands forcing teams to let some players walk it seems that free agency has evened things out a little more lately. With nine champions in the last ten years (thanks California), this season appears to be no different. The biggest division lead we have in June is four games, with the Bock being only a half game. With seven teams in the DL wildcard race and nine in the IL it's going to be a fun summer and fall.
