    Pawtucket and Batavia go the elusive 6-0, but Wilmington pulls off the 'unicorn' with a perfect 7-0 week. The Clowns swept Indy and Maine, have won 12 in a row, and top the Power Rankings. Other nice weeks were had by Windy City and Montreal who each went 5-2. On the other side of life Indy went 0-7 while Toronto and LAD went 1-5.

    Performance of the Week

    P James Vannoy - The 26 year old was the 7th overall pick of the 2040 draft and this is his third season in the BLB. He has yet to put up a winning record yet, but with more performance like he had on May 3rd against California it won't be long now. In a 1-0 Knights win, Vannoy went all 10 innings while allowing only four hits, striking out eight, and walking one. On the season he's now 3-1 with a 3.06 ERA and 1.27 WHIP in five starts.

    Prospect of the Week

    P Ashton Bell - Currently the 21st overall prospect in the BLB, Bell was picked with the 221st pick of the 2042 draft by Hartford. Yes that's in the 10th round for those asking. At only 21 years old he throws almost 100 mph, has great stamina, and throws a fastball, changeup and splitter. Coaches love his work ethic and scouts believe if he fixes his control issues he could be an All-Star in a few seasons.

    In the last game of the season the North Carolina Tarheels needed a win to go to the postseason and they got just that. In a game that featured UNC blowing a 5-1 lead it took extra innings and a wild pitch in the top of the 10th that allowed Quinton Jackson to score and give the Tarheels the lead. Brady Schrock came in for the bottom of the 10th and got three straight ground outs to end it. With Carolina winning their last three, and Florida State (19-29) and Miami (19-29) losing their last six, UNC (20-28) is now playoff bound with Cayden Wittmeyer slated to start game one against Clemson in the Sweet 16.


    Five Things We Think We Think

    1. Congrats to Robert 'Stretch' Jessee who racked up his 2000th hit on May 3rd in a 4-2 win over Santo Domingo. The 32 year old was the 1.1 pick of the 2031 draft by Toronto where he played for 10 seasons before being traded to Philadelphia. He signed a 5 year/$100m contract with Dallas last season where he's currently hitting .316/.421/.547. He won the Stout Slugger in 2036 and 2038, been to eight All-Star games, and was named a Designated Driver six times.

    2. Derek Bell continues to put up amazing numbers as he shut down Carolina this week with a seven inning, 10 K, and one walk performance. Unfortunately Bell got pulled in the 8th, Corey Galindo came in and allowed a run, and Phoenix lost 1-0. Bell's numbers on the season...six starts, 4-0, 0.68 ERA, 0.43 WHIP, 65 K's, 3 walks.

    3. It was Reid 'Ramrod' Cole's turn to get paid this week as he and Driller's agreed to a new contract. Stretching over five years it's worth $95,500,250 with the final season being a player option. Cole was acquired via trade last season from Windy City which he helped lead to a 2041 Brewmasters Cup victory. He's a 2x All-Star and this year is batting .299/.367/.567 with 7 HR's and 14 RBI's.

    4. It's Hall of Fame time again in the BLB. Every two years the voters get a chance to induct the next members into the illustrious club. This year we have nine candidates with six of them being holdovers from previous votes: C Alpha McCormick, LF C.J. Stripling, 1B Joy-shan Guo, SS Dave Davis, RF Jaime 'Toro' Rush, and OF Zachary Bradley. The three newcomers on the ballot are: C Shawn Covington, R.J. Kapper, and RF Brendan Matson. Good luck to all the candidates.

    5. It's playoff time...well at least for the NCAA/CCBL and High School! The NCAA and CCBL kick off this week while High School is already in the quarterfinals. Time to see how the future stars of the BLB handle the postseason pressure. It also means we are right around the corner for the BLB draft. Next to October it's the best time of the year.
