Performance of the Week
RF Robert 'Stretch' Jessee - The old man still has it at the age of...31? I guess when you are drafted 14 years ago at 17 years old, and debuted in the BLB when you were 20, you aren't as old as we thought. Anyways on August 19th against Wilmington 'Stretch' knocked two home runs, drove four in, and scored four times himself in an 11-5 victory. On the season he's hitting .265/.352/.504 with 27 HR's and 62 RBI's.
Prospect of the Week
P A'Shawn Corbett - The last time we covered Corbett was in 2039 in Week 24 of the DK. Since then he's moved up to #64 on the prospect list and is currently playing in AA. This season in 21 starts he's 6-9 with a 4.23 ERA and 1.47 WHIP. While sources in the organization still say his work ethic is less than stellar he does throw five pitches and can hit 99 on the speed gun, so with talent like that he will get plenty of opportunities.

Trivia of the Week
Since 2040 who are the top five leaders in home runs?
Spoiler
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Remember Dallas and that amazing win streak in July. The Drillers went 22-2 that month, shot up to the top of the Power Rankings, and started to challenge New Orleans for the Lager lead. Then August came around and they forgot how to play baseball. They are now 5-14 this month and have dropped to 11 games back in their division. They are basically a lock though for the playoffs but we're still sure they can hardly wait until September gets here.
2. You know who else has had a rough August, the Carolina Tobs. They have also gone 5-14 this month after going 37-16 in June and July. You can't blame the pitching though. This month they have posted a 2.94 ERA while opponents are hitting .224 off of them. Offensively though they are hitting an abysmal .186, worst in the league. They have only been outscored by 14 runs though with seven of those losses by one run. With nine players hitting under .200 during the stretch, and Grant Hockensmith hitting .049, it might be time to burn some incense in the clubhouse.
3. There was a shakeup in New York this past week as the Knights fired manager Tom 'Heartbreaker' Campbell. Born in 1997 in Houston, TX he played college ball at the University of Texas before going into coaching. He made his BLB debut in 2036 when he was the assistant GM on the Kodiaks championship team. After the following season he was let go and became a manager in the Rookie League for Santa Monica. He was promoted to the A club Los Cayos Jellyfish and led them to the playoffs three out of four seasons. New York then signed him to be their manager in 2043 and he led them to 77 wins that season and the next. This year though the Knights were 52-62 and the GM and owner were disappointed to say the least. For the time being bench coach Tommy McLarnan, who won the Brewmasters in 2039 with Washington, will take over the top spot and Pat Gardner was hired as bench coach.
4. Remember when long win streaks were a thing? Well the longest win streak we have now in the league is a whopping two games...by Phoenix and Windy City. To go with it the longest losing streak we have is the teams they played, Carolina and Washington, at two games. At least we have a little bit of drama in the Import as Baltimore, LAD, California, and Phoenix will fight it out for three wildcard spots. The Roadrunners have a 5.5 game lead over the Bulldogs but LAD and Carolina are down to 3 and 3.5 respectively.
5. It's a fun match-up week in the BLB as we get to see Pawtucket at Pittsburgh and Santo Domingo at New Orleans to open the week, then California at Washington to close it. The Millers trail the Patriots by 11 games but this is the first three of six remaining times they will see each other. We don't predict a Millers division title but they could make it interesting. Santo Domingo and New Orleans also have six games left against each other on the season and the Rum Runners only trail the Voodoo by seven games. After threats of trading away the entire team by the GM they have responded with a 14-5 month. Can they score enough runs though against a team who is first in both starters and relievers ERA? The final match-up is the two division leaders in the Import. The season series is tired 4-4 and this is the final time they will see each other in the regular season. Could this be an ILCS preview?
