    06/26/2045

Pawtucket goes 6-1, the best in the land, and retakes first in the Power Rankings. Other good weeks were Carolina who went 5-1, while Phoenix, Washington, New York, and Maine all went 5-2. On the other side of life Indy went 0-7, Batavia went 1-6 and Windy City went 1-5.

    Performance of the Week

SS Jaden Feldmann - In the history of the BLB we've had two 4-HR games, one by Bing-zhang Lopanin 2033 and now one on June 23rd by Feldmann. In four at bats he hit four home runs and drove in eight as Santo Domingo beat Syracuse 9-6. In the four game series against the Snappers he hit seven home runs and drove in 12 runs. The 27 year old was the 16th overall pick by SDR in 2039 and hit 39 home runs in his first full season last year. This year he's hitting .251/.325/.570 with 23 HR's and 74 RBI's in 69 games.

    Prospect of the Week

3B Jerry 'Snake Hips' Coleman - The #1 overall pick of the 2045 draft debuted as the 9th overall prospect in the league and helped push Batavia to an unheard of level of over 400 'prospect points'. The Red Jackets are back down to only 394 as of now, but still have a 241 point lead over second place Toronto. So far in only four rookie league games Coleman has two hits in 15 at bats, but he has all the tools to be a star.

Another doozy of a game that was so long the first four innings of the box score don't fit. Let us fill you in though. In the top of the first newly acquired Harold Delgad doubled for the Kodiaks, driving in Omar Jones. Then in the bottom of the first for Seattle outfielder Louie Dano Dasmarinas doubled, driving in Richie 'Powder' van Luik. One to one and the fans figured they were in for a great one. Over five hours later, with the score still tied 1-1 in the top of the 16th, the fans just wanted to go home. Lucky for them Omar Jones walked and Chaz Welliver hit a two-run home run off of Lawson Oliver to finally break the tie. Judson Turner came in for the Kodiaks and got Takuyuki Nishimura to ground out, walked Bradley Beehn, got 'Powder' to hit into a fielders choice at second, and then finally struck out Melchior Galasso looking to end it.

Five Things We Think We Think

    1. Congrats to Robert 'Stretch' Jessee for hitting his 400th career home run on June 20th against Indy. The 31 year old was the first overall pick of the 2031 draft by Toronto. In 12 BLB seasons he has been selected to the All-Star game seven times and was the 2036 and 2038 Domestic League Stout Slugger. He's now 46th all-time in home runs, and currently 11th among active players.

    2. Speaking of All-Star appearances voting has begun for the 2045 game. The leading vote-getter for the IL is Knights outfielder Melchior Werth, while the DL is led by Voodoo shortstop Colby 'Mirror' Hullinger. After last years All-Star game cancellation both the fans and players are excited to get back to playing the "Midsummer Classic". This year Windy City will be the host city and the game will be played on Friday, July 21st.

    3. Christian Vines hasn't pitched since July 1st after he was diagnosed with shoulder tendinitis and listed as day-to-day for a month. The Snappers didn't want to take any chances and put him on the IL. A source close to the team stated he should be ready to play tomorrow and we expect to see him back on the mound this week. This season he's 4-0 with a 0.67 ERA and 0.76 WHIP in nine starts. The Snappers are 30-42, second to last in the Ale, and could sure use him.

    4. We hate to kick them when they are down, but the Barre Grays, Maine's A ball club, are now 1-56 and have lost 50 straight games. In the history of the BLB we have never seen a losing streak like this. In the history of professional sports we have never seen a losing streak like this. They have the talent as they are currently listed fourth by the OSA for 'Top Systems', but things just quite aren't working out...to say the least.

    5. In his last eight games JJ Plumley is 0-1 with an 8.22 ERA. His overall season stats are 0-1 with a 7.40 ERA. At 37 years old will he hang it up after this year, or opt in at $26.5m in 2046 for the final year of his contract? If he does opt in can the Wilmington fans really be upset? Plumley's achievements...5 Pale Ale's, 7x All-Star, and 2035 BLB champion.
