The Rum Runners go 6-1 with a four game sweep of Hartford and take over the top spot in the Power Rankings. Between them, Pawtucket, California, and New Orleans it's been quite a wild ride at the top. Other great weeks were California, New York, Washington, and Pawtucket who each went 5-2. On the other end of the rainbow Maine, Hartford, and Batavia all went 1-6. The Maine franchise is now a combined 45-232. Better days like ahead though right! Right?

Performance of the Week
Miles 'Rapid' McIntyre - We had our first no-no of the season this week as McIntyre shut down Batavia on June 8th to the tune of no hits, no runs, no walks, and 12 K's in a 4-0 victory. The only thing that kept him from perfection was two hit batsmen, including the second batter of the game. In his previous outing 'Rapid' lasted exactly 0.0 innings and gave up six runs on three hits against New York. Good to see that he turned things around. On the season he's now 8-2 with a 2.00 ERA and 0.78 WHIP.
Prospect of the Week
1B Mitch Marcinkowski - The fifth pick of the second round in 2041 by Maine has turned into the 29th overall prospect in the league, and is currently playing for their AA team. He's had a slow start this year hitting .203 with 1 HR and 13 RBI's in 46 games but scouts love his potential. He was named to the Futures Game last season and his work ethic is known around the organization as top flight. See things are getting better in Maine already.
Game of the Week
.
This game took so long that we can't even fit the first eight innings into the box score. In what was almost a BLB record, this June 7th match-up took an amazing seven hours and thirty-one minutes from start to finish. It went so long that the food and drink vendors actually opened back up in the 15th inning. In the end the Bulls used eight pitchers, there were a combined 31 men left on base, and a Fritz 'Big Dog' Finnerty solo shot in the top of the 20th proved to be the difference maker. When Dinos second basemen Jehvon Jacob ground out to finally end it even the home crowd breathed a sigh of relief.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. At 40-19 the Patriots are tied with the Kodiaks for the best record in the league. No one saw this coming...well except for the DK who predicted Pawtucket to win the Ale...as the Patriots now have an 8.5 game lead over second place Wilmington in their division. It's the largest division lead in the BLB and the Patriots are well on their way to the playoffs for the first time since 2033. They are currently first in the Domestic in OBP and OBS and second in average, runs scored, hits, and runs allowed. Looks like a recipe for success!
2. Dallas Garcia was put on waivers after spring training by Pittsburgh after hitting .089 in 28 games last season and was picked up by the Seattle Pilots. A little change of scenery often does you good as he is now hitting .179 for the Pilots in 22 games this season. Usually when you double your batting average that is a big deal, but maybe not so much this time. What we really wanted to talk about though was Garcia recently set the Import record for most triples in a game. On June 6th against Batavia he tripled not once, not twice, but three times in a 6-4 victory. In the Domestic two players have hit three triples in a game, Ernie Lucas did it for Montreal in 2019 and Tommy Jenkin did it for LAD in 2000.
3. In breaking news it appears that Windy City slugger Reid 'Ramrod' Cole is on the move to Dallas. The 28 year old 2x All-Star helped lead the Blues to the 2041 BLB title in his rookie season and is a huge fan favorite in Chicago. He was the captain and leader of the team and it now appears that Windy City is in a full rebuild, while Dallas is trying to shake off the doldrums of their 27-30 start. We haven't seen yet what Windy City will get in return but it was a great run for them as they had six straight playoff appearances and a championship parade.
4. Elmer 'Bane' Caceres hit his 400th career home run on June 6th and added two more during the rest of the week just for good measure. His 402 career home runs place him 45th all-time, and if he keeps it up he's on pace to tie Mike Morla and Brendan Matson for 28th all-time by seasons end. At only 32 years old he still has a few seasons left and it isn't out of the realm of possibility that he finishes top twenty when he finally hangs it up. He was the fifth overall pick of the 2033 draft by New Orleans, is an 8x All-Star, and won the 2041 Stout Slugger award.
5. The 2045 BLB draft is this week and we're excited to see what transpires. Will Batavia make it to the hollowed land of 400 prospect points? Will Montreal, Santo Domingo, Phoenix, and Denver get one prospect point? Tune in to find out. As far as impacting your favorite team though expect to be waiting for a few years. So far the latest draftee to play in the BLB is Montreal outfielder Jared Scott who was drafted in the second round of 2043. In his rookie campaign he's hitting .377/.409/.509 with 1 HR and 13 RBI's in 27 games. Not a single other player from that 2043 draft has made it to the show yet.
