Welcome back! First off congrats to the Montreal Exports for taking home the 2044 Brewmasters Cup! It was their fabled GM's third Cup victory, and second for the city of Montreal.
Enough about the past though, it's time to focus on the present. Which means for us the 67th season in Brewers League Baseball history. Hard to wrap your mind around but it's true, and the Daily Keg will try and guide you through the season the best we can. To start things off hot lets talk about the Carolina Tobs. With a 6-1 record they assume the top spot in the Power Rankings. California comes in second after going 5-1, while Hartford, Pawtucket, and Baltimore all went 5-2. In a rare feat that we haven't seen in quite a while there were no 0-fer or one win teams. Five teams did go 2-5, but hey the season is young and that only leaves room for improvement!

Performance of the Week
CF Joey Robertson - Time flies as the 5x All-Star Robertson turns 29 this season but is still in the prime of his career. He showed it on April 13th against Batavia when he recorded four hits, two home runs, and drove in six during a 16-2 beat down of the Red Jackets. He's making a cool $24m this year, is extremely popular around the league and with the ladies, and was a big part of the 2043 Kodiak's title run. Life is good for Joey.
Prospect of the Week
C Adrien Burshteyn - With the draft pool recently released Burshteyn has to be near the top of most lists. The 20 year old catcher is currently hitting .333/.407/.553 with 8 HR's and 24 RBI's in 34 games this season. Not only can hit hit, but he's a leader in the clubhouse and scouts think he has a chance to be a top catcher in the league down the road.
Game of the Week
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Elias Steves of the Bats is on pace for 149 home runs and 278 RBI's...numbers he probably won't quite reach...but it's still fun to look at. After smacking three home runs against LAD, in one game, Steves tallied up six on the week to go with 12 RBI's. The 26 year old was a second round pick by the Bats in 2036 and this will be his third full season in the BLB. His biggest asset though is that he is a champion. And by champion we mean he won the 2036 Rookie Cup, the 2039 Bush League Championship, and the 2040 Lautering Trophy.
2. Five days into the season and we had our first brawl as Toronto and Maine got into it. After Gil Mandell launched a homer off of Dontavious Barreras in the fourth, Barreras beaned Theo Mallen on the next pitch. Mallen took offense, charged the mound and the battle of the giants was on, as both parties are 6'8" tall. Mallen outweighs Barreras by twenty pounds but it didn't matter as Barreras is a noted jujitsu black belt in his native Argentina. After Mallen was folded into a pretzel teammates quickly broke it up and both were ejected. Barreras got six games, Mallen got four, and UFC 1346 was over.
3. When you go 3-0 in the postseason and lead your team to a title you get paid, and Exports pitcher Maynor Franco just did both. This past week the 28 year old signed a five year extension for $92,000,000. He was signed out of Guatemala by Montreal back in 2036 for $7,500,000 and lifetime is 69-38 with a 3.33 ERA and 1.13 WHIP.
4. Speaking of the defending champs has anyone studies the Top Player list released recently by the OSA. Those lovable fools over at the OOTP Scouting Association have ranked Colby Hullinger as the top batter in the BLB. Then they ranked #2-#4 as Preston Capps, Karson Blair, and Daryl Walken. The first two are 27 years old, the last one is 24. The one thing they all have in common...they play for Montreal. Did someone say dynasty? Maybe the OSA isn't as foolish as we thought.
5. As we mentioned earlier the 2045 draft pool is out as teams around the league have started to compile their lists. With Batavia holding the first pick (as well as a 200+ point lead in prospect points), what will those Red Jackets do? Last year they went hitter with 1.1 (Devon Keen) then pitcher with 1.2 (Joel Sawyer). With six batters and seven pitchers in the Top 100 I guess you can do whatever you want. Should we start selling the 2050 Red Jackets championship gear now or wait?
