Montreal stays on top with a 6-1 week but gains no ground as their division rival, the Rum Runners, also go 6-1. The Exports boast the best record in the league though at 76-42 and still maintain a four game lead over Santo Domingo. Not to be outdone in the Domestic the snazzy Snappers go 6-1 as well and lead the Ale by 12.5 games now. To round out the top weeks Phoenix, Washington, and Baltimore all went 5-2. Both the Bulldogs and Roadrunners have climbed back into playoff contention while Washington holds on to the Stout lead. On the flip side Toronto and Wilmington each went 1-6 while Batavia continues to struggle, but with their 36-85 record are still the DK favorites for the 2045 #1 pick.

Performance of the Week
P Jordan James - The 223rd overall pick of the 2039 draft has had quite the career so far in Montreal. He added to it August 14th when he shut out the Clowns and only allowed one hit during a 2-0 Exports victory. Last season the 10th round pick was 15-5 with a 2.82 ERA, this season so far he's 10-8 with a 3.18 ERA. Talk about a diamond in the rough.
Prospect of the Week
P Ja-Ron Anstey - The 25th overall prospect is playing for New York's A club after being the 4th overall pick of the 2042 draft. This season he's 6-4 with a 3.78 ERA and 1.45 WHIP. He throws up to 100 mph, has five pitches, and is known for his stellar work ethic. At 22 years old he's projected by the OSA to be in the BLB next season, but we think 2046 is more likely.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Apparently the power outage in the BLB doesn't translate to individual games. On August 10th Roadrunners outfielder Julian England smacked three home runs, the 8th three home run game of the season by a BLB player. That is the most for a single season in league history.
2. After missing the first half of the season due to a hamstring issue Colby Hullinger is getting back in the groove. He currently has a 19 game hitting streak going where his average has gone from .229 to .310 while being named POTG four times. Between him and Montreal's Preston Capps you have the two best players in the league playing in the Lager. Capps was the second overall pick in the 2035 draft, Hullinger was the third. Their lifetime batting average, .301. Who was the first overall pick, how about Cy Rocha who was picked by Denver. He now plays for Dallas. The fourth overall pick was Mitchell Goodbred, who did play for Toronto until being traded to Baltimore earlier this season. The Lager really enjoyed 2035.
3. Washington's Elias Steves seems to be having a hot streak as well. He has homered in four straight games and has five dingers total in the last six games. He was a second round pick back in 2036 by the Bats, and in his second season in the BLB made his first All-Star appearance this year. He's hitting .281/.350/.580 with 31 HR's and 82 RBI's. He still has a long way to go though to catch the all-time leader for consecutive games with a home run. For those with bad memories, like us, it was Seattle's Charles Farris who smashed a home run in nine straight games just four short years ago in 2040. Where is ol' Charlie now...playing for Washington's AAA team the Richmond Rams.
4. Remember when we picked Seattle to win 100 games...sorry about that Pilot's fans. The DK Curse strikes again. Since that 21-5 month of April they have gone 11-16, 11-16, and 11-14. With the addition of Nunes and Taylor from Los Angeles though the ship appears to be righted for now. They are 8-5 in August and sitting in the 3rd wildcard spot. Do they have enough to hold off Baltimore, Phoenix and New York...we certainly think so! Hold on we appear to be getting several calls from area code 206...
5. With the recent trades it appears the playoff odds have shifted quite dramatically. In the Domestic we have Syracuse, Montreal, Santo Domingo, and Dallas as locks. Which means Pittsburgh, New Orleans, and Maine get to fight for two spots. In the Import it appears Windy City, California, Washington and Philly are locks. Which means Seattle, Baltimore, Phoenix, and New York will battle it out for the remaining two spots. With the trading deadline past it looks like we're in for a special September.
