In the All-Star shortened week the Rum Runners stay on top, but just barely after a 1-2 week. The only undefeated team was the New York Knights who swept Batavia and are now 45-49 on the season. They are first in the IL in hits, second in OBS, and if their pitching gets going they could easily be a playoff team. With everyone playing three here were the team leaders: Wilmington scored 18 runs, New York only allowed one run, Wilmington hit eight home runs, New York and Cali allowed zero long balls, New York swiped five bases while Indy K'd 40 opposing batters.

Performance of the Week
3B Garrett 'Troll' Barker - On July 11th against LAD the 'Troll' hit two home runs, drove in four, and scored twice in a 7-1 Bulls victory. The 25 year old went undrafted after being an NCAA All-Star and was signed by Washington, but released the following season. He was signed by Denver in 2040 and worked his way up to his BLB debut just last week. So far in nine games he is hitting .387 with 7 HR's and 10 RBI's while playing third base.
Prospect of the Week
P Cato 'Black Magic' Nakasone - The 8th overall pick of this years draft by Hartford was a starter in the Cape Cod league but has started out as a reliever for the Mallards. In 5.1 innings pitched he's struck out six, allowed one run, and walked three. He throws four pitches, including a 96 mph fastball, and projects to be a top flight starter down the road.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. In the first time in history the BLB didn't feature a mid-season All-Star game, but we did have a Home Run Derby and Future Prospects game. In the home run derby Maine star James 'Wacky' Vandehey knocked off Montreal slugger D.J. Osburn 14-13 in the final round to take home the trophy. In the prospects game the IL pulled away late with a four run 7th and ended up winning easily 7-2. The POTG was Phoenix second basemen Garett Rex who is currently hitting .327 in AAA Flagstaff.
2. Poor Batavia has lost eight in a row, and their record over June and July is now 5-35. This is almost the same team that was 16-13 in May, but as of late the sale is on after trading away Seth Rocco, Nigel Reese, Frasier Gilbert and most recently Archie Thorington. The good news is they have more than double the amount of prospect points as second place Dallas, as well as three first round picks next year and two in 2046. This team could end up with over 400 points, a mark that we don't ever remember being broken.
3. Hitting is down across the league...or maybe pitching is just up? Currently the batting average for the DL is the seventh lowest in history, while the IL comes in at 16th. We seem to have a power shortage too as the projection for the home run leader is Kyle Olmsted with 44, or 25 less than the all-time record. Looking across the board there isn't one hitting record that is even close to being broken. Maybe the bats will come out swinging in the second half of the season.
4. The post all-star playoff races look to be entertaining. With the exception of Batavia, Indy, and possibly LAD after their big sell off this week every single team has a chance to make it. In the Domestic the wildcard race from second place Maine to ninth place Hartford is only a nine game difference. In the Import the wildcard race from first place California to eight place Denver is only 10 games. Will it create more of trade frenzy for those going for it all, or will the market dry up since everyone has a realistic chance. Only time will tell.
5. Congrats to the 2044 BLB All-Stars. We know there wasn't a game, but the selections as voted on by the fans will go down in the history books. From looking over the rosters we believe the Domestic would have won, so we'll just give them the honorary victory.
