The news out of the BLB main office this week is that the league's annual all-star game will not be taking place this year. First played in 1978 the game has been a fixture for fans since the league's inception. One of the league's GM's Matt stated, "It was difficult decision to make, but one that we felt was necessary to keep the game, its players, its staff, and the fans safe!"
Not all GMs seem to agree though, as SDR and Washington have been playing to full houses all season. In fact to try to push the game forward, GM Jim had even volunteered to make Syracuse Stadium available and require every fan in attendance to be masked. "It's important for players like Christian Vines to really showcase how much better he is than every other pitcher in the league, and the all star game is a perfect place to do that!"
Apparently a strong contingent of GMs being led by Denver, New York, Carolina, Indianapolis, and Toronto fought hard to get the game cancelled. Toronto's GM Spear was quite angry in the meeting, "We've been capped at 50% attendance the whole season in Toronto, there is no way that an all star game would be going on when we can't have full stadiums in the great white north!" It seems enough of the GMs agreed with the long time GM, and the game will be a wash for this year!
Lucky for the fans that they still have one more day to vote in their favourite all star, but the just won't get to see them play.
According to sources though, there are plans being put into place to make sure that this never happens again, and fans will get to see their BLB heroes once again, on the game's grandest of stages!
