For the first time in a while those snazzy Snappers aren't first anymore as everyone's favorite underdog, the Washington Bats, move into the top spot. With a perfect 6-0 week that featured a sweep of Indy and Toronto, the Bats have now built a 4.5 game lead over Philly in the Stout while winning 12 straight games. Not to be outdone their Stout mate, the Carolina Tobs, also went 6-0. The Tobs swept Indy and Santo Domingo, are now 31-33 on the year, and have moved into the final IL wildcard spot. The other top week was had by Pittsburgh who went 5-1 with a sweep of California. The Millers are now 33-33 on the season and have sneaked back into the wildcard hunt. With everyone playing six here are the team leaders: Phoenix scored 45 runs, Dallas drilled 13 long balls, Seattle swiped 14 bases, Carolina allowed only 14 runs, New York K'd 60 batters, and Washington only gave up one home run.

Performance of the Week
LF Rory Elia - We had to look twice when we saw Elia was only 30 years old, since it seems like he's been around a long time. When you win the Refreshing New Brew at 20 though in 2034 it's unreal just how fast time flies. Now that we are done reminiscing, on June 9th against Wilmington Elia smoked two home runs, drove in seven runs (including his 1000th career RBI), and scored twice in a 7-1 victory. On the season he's hitting .232 with 13 HR's and 36 RBI's in 59 games.
Prospect of the Week
3B Neall Rabah - The Dinos found this kid in Tunisian back in 2041 and he went from the #47 prospect in the league last season to #8 this year. Scouts love his work ethic and his power potential looks off the charts. So far he's been stashed in the International Complex but rumors are he will be heading to the Rookie League in the near future.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Richie 'Powder' van Luik seems to be back, if you can call hitting .302 last season a down year. This year 'Powder' leads the league with a .374 average, which is his second highest ever after that miracle .402 season back in 2039. He's also swiped 36 bases and is on pace for 93 this year. At only 28 years old the stolen base record is all but certain at this point.
2. There are seven teams in the DL within 3.5 games of each other that are battling for wildcard spots. Maine is the #2 wildcard at 34-31, while Wilmington is #7 at 30-34. In the IL even Baltimore, who has the worst record in the IL, is only four games back from the final wildcard spot. Talk about a season where a big trade or two could really pay off down the stretch.
3. We had a six hit game on May 28th, but it was in nine at bats during an extra innings affair. This week though we had a six hit game in nine innings...in six at bats! Montreal's Daryl Walken torched Seattle with six hits, one home run, three doubles, and three RBI's in a 13-8 victory on June 7th. Walken was a third round pick back in 2038 and looks like he could be an absolute star. The 23 year old is currently hitting .340/.388/.588 with 13 HR's and 43 RBI's while posting a +4.9 ZR at right field. He has one of the strongest arms in the game, and after winning the Refreshing New Brew last season he better make some room for a lot more hardware down the road.
4. The Bulldogs have started cleaning house after their disastrous start but we're looking at a rebound no matter who they go with at manager. They are last in the IL in almost every pitching category, and in the bottom third of most hitting categories. They just have too much talent to be under performing this much. They also just extended Mitchell Goodbred to a nice four year deal that will cost them only $12.8 million total. At 26 he has established himself as a leader in the clubhouse while hitting .306 with 11 HR's and 39 RBI's. Put him with a new manager to shake things up a little and we still believe they are a playoff team.
5. Batavia is #1 in the Top System ranking with 242 points. Second place is Dallas with 156 points. Did we mention Batavia has picks 1.1, 1.2 , and 1.22 in this years draft. They could reach the fabled number of 300 points after this weeks BLB draft which takes place in three days. Watch out for those late 2040's Red Jackets!
