The Kodiaks have the only perfect week as they go 6-0 with sweeps of Batavia and Denver, and retake the #1 spot in the Power Rankings. Other nice weeks were Washington and Wilmington who each went 5-1. The Bats now trail the Freedom for the Stout lead by one game, while the Clowns have tied the Millers for the top spot in the Ale. Seattle and Syracuse joined the five win club by going 5-2, as Seattle maintains a five game lead in the Bock and Syracuse upped their playoff odds to 45%. On the flip side poor Batavia went 0-6 and now hold a four game lead over Indy for the first pick in next years draft.

Performance of the Week
P Derek Bell - The 28 year old turned in the #9 performance of the season on August 19th against LAD. In 8 innings he allowed only two hits, struck out 10, and walked none during a 3-0 Roadrunners victory. He's now 15-4 with a 2.19 ERA on the season, and after teammate Yuri Baldwin went down is now in the running for the IL Pale Ale. Not bad for a third round pick back in 2032.
Injury of the Week
RF Ezra Chalmers - Not often we get a Kodiak on this list as the team strategy involves lots of rest and taking your vitamins, but Chalmers tore his hamstring August 21st running the bases against Batavia and will be out for over a month. On the season he's hitting .299/.384/.540 with 20 HR's, 54 RBI's, and a 2.3 WAR.
Prospect of the Week
RF Jared Scott - The 20 year old will be a sophomore at Rice this upcoming season and after hitting .344/.417/.606 with 12 HR's in his freshman campaign the future looks bright. His coaches rave about his work ethic and after winning the Platinum Stick award in right field and going to the All-Star game scouts believe he's a potential future starting corner outfielder.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Congrats to Javy 'Blur' Gudino who recorded his 3000th career BLB hit on August 22nd against Wilmington. The 39 year old future Hall of Fame member has a lifetime average of .310 to go with his 12 All-Star appearances, 10 Designated Drivers, and 2041 BLB championship. He is projected to pass both Mel Woodbury and Dani Alvarez this season and move into 11th all-time for career hits.
2. Out of the possible playoff teams the Millers and Kodiaks play the toughest remaining schedule as their opponents win percentage comes in at .522. The easiest belongs to New Orleans who comes in at .432%. Therefore even though the Voodoo are 63-63 they have a 87% chance of making the postseason, while the 64-62 Bulldogs in the IL are at 0.0%.
3. Wilmington has been on a tear lately as "late season JJ" has come into effect. The Clowns are 33-14 since July 1st and Plumley has gone from 3-5 with a 4.63 ERA to 13-5 with a 2.58 ERA. He leads all DL pitchers in ERA, K's, and WAR and is tied for second in wins. Looks like his 5th overall, and second straight Pale Ale are in his future. He does get a nice $440k bonus if he wins it again, which would go along nicely with the $213 million Wilmington has paid him over his career.
4. Ryan Hubbard is one home run and one stolen base away from joining the 30/30 club for the third consecutive season. He was the only player to be on the list for 2040 and 2041 but he might get some company this season. Currently Montreal's Preston Capps has hit 27 HR's and swiped 52 bases and is on pace to hit 35 out of the park. Could he get hot and be the first to ever reach the 40/40 club?
5. The match-ups we are looking forward to this week are Pittsburgh at Montreal, and Washington at Windy City. The Millers are trying to hold onto first in the Ale while Montreal has built a 7.5 game lead in the Lager. After trading LDD, Pat Graves, and Jimmy Welborn, Pittsburgh is still 13-9 in August with five pitchers currently on the "Who's Not" list. Montreal meanwhile is cruising with the #2 staff in starters ERA and #1 staff in bullpen ERA. Washington and Windy City are both second in their respective division but have a shot at winning it and getting a first round bye. Washington is actually favored to overtake Philly with a 66% chance while Windy City currently comes in at 22% to take the Bock.
