  • The 2042 Daily Keg - Week 10

    06/16/2042

Interleague week ends as Pittsburgh holds onto the top spot with a 4-2 record against the IL. The Millers have the top record in the league but with Louie Dano Dasmarinas, D.J. Osburn, and Zack Coffey all walking after this season is it now or never for them to capture their first ever Brewmasters? History says no but only time will tell. The best of the week though belonged to Montreal, Carolina, New Orleans, and Washington who all went 5-1. Meanwhile poor California went 0-6 after being swept by Montreal and New Orleans. Maybe their GM is thinking twice after being the front-runner for interleague play a few seasons ago!

    Performance of the Week

1B Parker Wood - The 28 laid the wood to California on June 11th and turned in the #2 hitting performance of the season. In four at bats he tallied up four hits, two home runs, five RBI's, and scored three times in a 13-6 Voodoo victory. The second round pick by Indy in 2031 was traded to New Orleans in 2033, and has been a starter for them since 2037 where he racked up over 200 home runs and 600 RBI's in his career. He also currently leads the BLB with 25 HR's and 58 RBI's.

    Injury of the Week

P Bennett 'Pepi' Senn - The 10th overall pick of the 2037 draft was once upon a time the #21 prospect in the land. Twelve injuries later he went down once again on June 13th, this time with a torn UCL, and will be out until next spring. On the season he was 0-5 with a 7.11 ERA and 1.83 WHIP and at 25 years old it might be the last time we see him in the BLB.

    Prospect of the Week

CF Daryl Walken - After being drafted 50th overall in 2038 he has shot up the prospect ranking to #20 and he's currently on the Exports AAA club. The 6'3 sweet swinging lefty from Florida can play any outfield position, steal bases, and hit for contact and power. Scouts think he has the potential to be a future star.

Five Things We Think We Think

    1. Timmy Ungureanu has now hit safely in 31 straight games and is hitting .320/358/.434. The all-time record is held by RJ Kapper who hit safely in 37 games, which he set April 11, 2035. Other than Kapper we haven't had someone reach the mid 30's in over a decade. Speaking of RJ he recorded his 2500th career hit this week. He's now 39th all-time and projected to end up 35th by the time the season ends. Right behind some guy named Geoff Yonke.

    2. You know who isn't having a good streak at Maine....SP Kaleb Philips. He was the first overall pick of the 2036 draft by the then Denver BC but traded by the Bulls two years later to Philly. He was then traded to Maine three years later in 2041 but has never reached the top pick potential. Phillips lost the last five games of 2041 and in 2042 is now 0-9 with a 4.89 ERA. His 14 game losing streak is the longest in the BLB and at 26 years old his poor work ethic, loyalty, and leadership have come to light as he's become an issue in the clubhouse.

    3. In the all-Maine edition of the DK congrats to 37 year old Pat Schick who recorded his 200th career win against Denver on June 12th, putting him a tie for 30th all-time. He was removed from the game in the bottom of the ninth with two outs and a 5-0 lead, by manager Jamie Nourse, and was actually given a standing ovation by the Bulls home crowd. He was the 5th overall pick of the 2025 draft by New York and is a 7x All-Star and helped New York win the 2029 Brewmasters Cup when he went 5-1 with a 1.91 ERA during the playoffs.

    4. This week we get some great divisional one vs two's as New Orleans travels to Montreal and Washington travels to Philadelphia. The Exports and Voodoo are tied atop the Lager, while the Bats and Freedom are tied atop the Stout. Montreal is second in the league in runs allowed, while New Orleans is first in runs scored and second in the league in home runs. Meanwhile the Bats feature the #2 starting ERA in the IL (but 11th bullpen) while Philly has the best bullpen ERA in the IL but comes in #9 for starters.

    5. The 2042 BLB draft is here. In a poll of BNN analysts, these amateurs were projected to be the first ten picks:

    1. Payton Durst, 17 year-old LHP out of high-school.
    2. Linus Barbay, 17 year-old RHP out of high-school.
    3. Ja-Ron Anstey, 20 year-old RHP out of college.
    4. Todd Gauthier, 20 year-old 3B out of college.
    5. Norton Bruck, 20 year-old 2B out of college.
    6. Zeke Lebron, 17 year-old RF out of high-school.
    7. Calvin Navratil, 17 year-old RHP out of high-school.
    8. John Phelps, 20 year-old RHP out of college.
    9. Marc Putzier, 20 year-old RHP out of college.
    10. William Minniear, 20 year-old LHP out of college.
