The Kodiaks made quite the splash this week by going 7-0, throwing a no-hitter, having the POTW, and achieving the top spot in the Power Rankings. Goodness. Should we just crown them now? Other nice weeks were Philly who went 5-1 and Carolina and New Orleans who went 5-2. The not so nice weeks belonged to Batavia who went 0-7 and Phoenix and Baltimore who went 1-6.

Performance of the Week
P Harold 'Crabman' Valentine - Even though he shouted "You got Crabs!" towards Sidney 'Doofus' Ishibashi after getting him to fly out to end the game, we're still going to give him the POTW after his May 20th no-hitter against Windy City. The 25 year old looks like he might have finally bloomed as struck out nine and walked three during the rare feat. On the season he's now 4-0 with a 2.36 ERA and is everything the organization hoped the 3rd overall pick from the 2034 draft would become.
Injury of the Week
P Christian Vines - On May 24th he left the game against Montreal after throwing only four pitches due to shoulder pain. The good news...he was diagnosed with a partially torn labrum and will be out only a little over a month. The bad news...he was diagnosed with a partially torn labrum. This kid has been talked about for years and at 24 years old (it's his birthday today) you never want to see any sort of arm injury. Here's to hoping for a fast and full recovery.
Prospect of the Week
1B Al Flanagan - When you look back at CCBL careers it might be hard to top Flanagans. On May 23rd he won his second straight CCBL Cape Cup, and was named the Cape Cup MVP for the second straight year as well. He was also the 2041 Outstanding Hitter and has a good shot to win it again after hitting .349 with 20 HR's and 60 RBI's. Did we mention he was also selected to the All-Star game in '41 and '42? At only 20 years old he could easily be a top three pick in the upcoming draft and we might be hearing about him for years to come.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Tuesday, May 20th, was quite the day in the BLB. As we mentioned Valentine tossed a no-hitter, but we also welcomed Fred Falloon and Kaden Gaston to the 300 career home run club. Falloon was the second overall pick of the 2030 draft and in twelve season with the Racers has been to five All-Star games and helped them win the 2034 Brewmasters Cup. Gaston was the 65th overall pick by Washington back in 2027 and has played for the Bats, Racers, Blues, Pilots, and now Drillers. He's a four time All-Star and helped Washington win the 2032 Brewmasters Cup.
2. Montreal and Syracuse played quite the game on May 24th when they decided to play 15 innings that featured 14 pitchers. The big story though was 30 year old Erwijn 'Moriarity' de Jong swiping five bases in the game. He even stole second in the bottom of the 15th to put himself in scoring position but it didn't matter after Dominique Graham smashed a two run walk off to end it. On the season Jong has 29 stolen bases, tops in the league.
3. With high school and the Cape Cup over only the NCAA champion has yet to be determined. This week UCLA squares off with Arizona State in the best of three College World Series. The Bruins went 26-22 this season while ASU barely sneaked in at 24-24. UCLA's last championship was 2030 while ASU hasn't won one yet. The Sun Devils are led by starter Lance Costello while UCLA has Marc 'Birdbrain' Putzier and Randy Butterfield for games two and three. Advantage Bruins.
4. Poor CJ Harrison. He continues to get placed out in center field only to embarrass himself. His -14.4 ZR is the worst in the league but he does only have one error, mostly because he can't reach most of the balls hit at him. You know who does track down the tough ones...Wilmington's short stop Chip Martin. In 20 'remote' balls hit in his direction this season he has gotten to seven of them. Nobody in the BLB has more.
5. We get teams meeting for the first time this year and we have a couple of great match-ups. To start off the first place Millers travel to battle the first place Exports. The Millers are near the top of almost every offensively category, while Montreal is tops in every pitching statistic. We also get to see New York at 27-18 go on the road to California and their league best 31-15 record. Many are asking if the Knights are 'for real' this season and this is as good a test as any. Get your popcorn ready.
