The Clowns go a perfect 6-0 with sweeps of Pawtucket and Santo Domingo as they push their win streak to 10 and maintain a 2.5 game lead in the Ale. Other big weeks belonged to Phoenix, Baltimore, LAD, Pittsburgh and Montreal who all went 6-1. Seattle, Syracuse, and Maine also chipped in with 5-2 weeks. Goodness with all that winning there must have a been a little bit of losing as well.

Performance of the Week
1B R.J. Kapper - In just another day at the office for the man leading the BLB in average Kapper faced off against Pawtucket on August 28th and went a cool five for five from the plate. Five at bats, five hits, five RBI's, two runs scored and an 8-5 Clowns victory. On the season he's hitting .368/.426/.514 with 10 HR's, 46 RBI's and a 4.5 WAR.
Injury of the Week
P Leo Deen - On August 30th against Santo Domingo the 25 year old felt something pop in his elbow and had to leave the game. An MRI showed he had damaged the radial nerve in his throwing arm and would need surgery. His timetable to return is 4-5 months so his season is over. This is a huge loss for the Clowns as Deen was 11-4 with a 3.16 ERA , 1.21 WHIP, and 3.7 WAR on the season. What's even more spectacular is that he was an 8th round pick back in 2037 and if he heals up could be a force for years to come.
Prospect of the Week
P Len Blom - Do we have another 8th round pick who is going to make an impact? Blom was drafted this year as the 172nd overall pick even after an All-Star season in the Cape Cod League. So far in LAD's minor league system he's 8-0 with a 1.57 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, and 1.7 WAR in nine starts.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. In the mostly Clowns edition of the DK we saw Wilmington's Ryan Hubbard swipe eight bases this week, giving him 59 overall for the season. He's now third in the league behind Erwijn 'Moriarity' de Jong's 70 and Richie 'Powder' van Luik's 64. Hubbard also threw in two home runs and five RBI's for good measure and he's hitting .287 with 25 HR's and 73 RBI's on the year with a 3.4 WAR.
2. The Baltimore Bulldogs used the month of August to blast off to the moon as they went 22-6 and outscored their opponents 162-91. Starter Seth 'Berserker' Rocco won the pitcher of the month after going 6-0 with a 1.19 ERA. The first overall pick of 2030 is in his first season with Baltimore and he's now 15-8 with a 3. 49 ERA. Throw in two more pitchers and four fielders who are on the "Who's Hot" list and they might shoot past the Bats for first in the Stout. Not bad considering Washington had an 11.5 game lead going into the month.
3. The Triple Crown races are still on...at least on the pitching side. Elmer 'Bane' Caceres leads the DL in HR's and RBI's, but is 5th in average. JD 'Hurricane' Rice leads the IL in HR's and RBI's but is 5th in average. Pitching wise though JJ Plumley is 1st in ERA and 1st in K's but 2nd in wins as he has 14 and trails Erik Foley by one. Meanwhile Barton Mejia is is 1st in ERA and 1st in K's but is 2nd in wins as he has 14 and trails Gary Fioroli by one. Talk about peat and repeat.
4. Congrats to Javy 'Blur' Gudino who smacked his 400th career home run on September 1st against Indianapolis. The first overall pick of the 2024 draft is in his 17th season in the bigs and is now 38 years old. He should be a first ballot Hall of Fame selection when he hangs it up as he's been selected to 11 All-Star games, been a 9x Designated Driver at second base, won 2 DWI's at second, was the 2026 Refreshing New Brew, is a 4x playoff series MVP, and won the 2029 Brewmasters Cup with Montreal.
5. We are back for our final two interleague match-ups of the season this week. Some fun series to watch...California at Santo Domingo, Syracuse at Washington, Pittsburgh at California, New Orleans at Baltimore, and Montreal at Windy City.
